Ricky Henderson dies at 65.

It's kind of weird to see world class athletes who die early, but it seems to happen a lot.

I wonder if they just work their bodies so hard during their career that once they stop their bodies react super negatively?

Rose and Shoeless Joe now eligible for HOF.

If baseball is to be taken seriously, both should be in immediately.

Rose got in trouble, not for gambling, but in lying about it. He just denied it forever. That pissed people off.

Shoeless Joe took money, yeah, but also put on a fucking show during the World Series. He wasn't why they lost, and clearly wasn't intentionally playing bad. If you've never seen "Eight Men Out", it's a really good movie about the scandal.

Guardians player investigated for gambling.

TLDR: In two games, wagers were placed on specific pitches in specific innings and they won. This seems to imply he was involved.

Why "bush league"?

Do the pitcher and catcher not secretly communicate to hide pitch types? Is a baseman pretending to throw a ball back to the pitcher only hold it trying to tag a runner out a play that isn't "bush league"?

I can think of plays and moves to confuse or trick opponents in every major team sport.

So, what's the problem?

Yeah, no problem here. Be more aware, pitcher.

Looks like dark days ahead for MLB.

Manfred and the owners are in the right here, in terms of, fairness in the sport. Nowhere is disparity among the haves and have nots more on display than in MLB. Teams blatantly buy championships. Attendance and ratings aren't what they used to be, and a player recently signed a billion dollar contract. It wasn't even a lifetime contract.

You can come with the "But without players, the sport wouldn't exist and they deserve X", that's fine and I agree. However, they don't deserve everything. Ultimately, the sport doesn't exist without owners because the teams wouldn't exist. They deserve the lion's share of the profits because they take the risk and created the opportunity for everyone else. Just like in any business. Now if you want to figure out what that X percentage should be that makes it fair to the players, great, but that's a different discussion.

Sounds like baseball fans should prepare for a prolonged strike.

Tigers historically choke.

To be fair, the Guardians also have been winning everything.

2 Guardians indicted for pitch rigging.

The government needs to step in and pass laws banning all this really niche betting shit.

No more betting on what pitches will be thrown, how many points a basketball bench player will score, and anything else that players can directly influence.

This is actually a big deal. I wonder if it'll seep over to the NBA?
Instead, he agreed to a groundbreaking contract with the Hawks, who have won four of the past five Japan Series. Stewart is expected to finalize the deal by the end of May. Not only does Stewart stand to make more money during his six years in Japan than he would have with an MLB organization, he could potentially return to the United States as a 25-year-old free agent allowed to sign a long-term contract with any of MLB's 30 teams.
Good for him

Hmmm. Got a $7M contract guaranteed (plus more??), seemingly over 4 years? Then a 2-year $10M extension, which should have expired before this year. Was injured for most of 2025. Still in Japan.

Honestly, when I was pondering why he was still in Japan, that was the first thing I thought of.
