In fact, Irving police may yet charge Ahmed with building a “hoax bomb.”

Because god forbid cops do real work and ferret out real criminals.

The complaining teachers and that principle should be immediately fired. They have absolutely no business being educators. They are just too stupid.

I'm gonna go down on record as: there's more to this story than we are hearing.

Just a feeling. There's too much stupidity, even for teachers and cops, and too much self-righteous indignation from everybody else.

1) No one ever went broke underestimating human stupidity.
2) Power stupifies, absolute power stupifies absolutely.

I don't think that's the case. I would imagine many business owners have gone broke for underestimating the stupidity of their workers.

But I agree with what I think your post was trying to say. Where have you been for the last decade, thib? The worst among police and teachers are some of the dumbest people we have around. It's what we do with those people with no job skills who are also too stupid to figure out how to live off of welfare. If they're a thug give them a gun, if they're not give them a grade book.

Yeah, if you're on the wrong end of the stupid barrel, it may as well be a shotgun. And damnit, I think I totally fucked my point. No one ever went broke overestimating it. Underestimating can be fatal.

Irving ISD officials and Irving police will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Irving Criminal Justice Center. We will continue to update this story as new developments emerge.

Here

Here's the police reasoning, Thib.
School resource officers questioned the student about his intentions and the reasons why he brought the device to school. The student only would say it was a clock and was not forthcoming at that time about any other details.

Having no other information to go on, and taking into consideration the device’s suspicious appearance and the safety of the students and staff at MacArthur High School, the student was taken into custody for possessing a hoax bomb.

Anything with a digital display is suspicious? Fucking retards like this are the reasons I say the terrorists won 9/11.

Yeah, so far I've got 0 sympathy/respect for the police or school in this matter.

I've been on the internet, reading bullshit news stories---mostly about black thugs shot by RAAAAYSSSIISSST white "vigilantes" and cops.

So while, yeah, we hear a lot of retarded shit from schools, we also hear a lot of bullshit from the media about how RAAAAAAYSSSISSST and evil the wrong kind of white people are.

SO: maybe it's typical stupidity, but I'm betting there's something else going on.

Didn't some Ohio school suspend a kid for threatening another with the One Ring?

Here's part of the summary at Popehat that I think covers it nicely:

Actually nobody thought the clock was a bomb. The school didn't think it was a bomb. The police admitted they never thought it was a bomb. The police admitted Ahmed never suggested it was a bomb, or that he meant for anyone to think it was anything but a clock. But grown-ups detained, interrogated, arrested, and handcuffed Ahmed because they couldn't conceive of why a kid would build his own clock.

No argument from me on that. The claims of racism are almost all bullshit. Those cops aren't evil fuckers because they are racist. They're evil fuckers because they put their own petty power trips over their duty to serve and protect, because they have developed such a hatred for the citizenry that shoot-first-and-ask-questions-later is accepted practice, and because they have so much contempt for the value of laws that they refuse to even pretend anymore that laws actually apply to them in any way.

But racism? Nah, not in most cases.

In fact why is this in the Islam thread? I hadn't noticed that until now. This is completely the wrong thread. The fact that he's brown and named Ahmed had nothing to do with any of this.

I'm also calling bullshit because modern bombs usually only have clocks in the fucking movies.

My response would be something along the lines of, "Choke on a dick, you spineless, talking head of a bitch."
"Only thing we did hear from the press conference was that he intended to transfer," MacArthur High School's director of communications Lesley Weaver told ABC News today. "He's certainly welcome [back]."
...
"I think there's frustration from the students," Weaver said. "They love their school, they love their community and not really appreciating the national spotlight that's been cast upon them."

The frustration is due to the fact that they're being taught and led by people who clearly know less then your typical adolescent.

"We do stand behind what the teacher did," she said. "We believe she was acting in the best interest for the safety of all 2,800 students at MacArthur High School. She followed the correct procedures."

I hope all your students withdraw. You should go back to giving HJs on the street corner, which was probably your last gig. You and people like you are the reason school is an overpriced joke. Do you part for the students' future and quit.

Ahmed spoke about his arrest today on ABC News' "Good Morning America," describing how his English teacher and police reacted to his clock, which is still in police custody.

Well, shit. This explains it. Numbers are the devil's writing to a lit teacher. Electrical engineering is a dubious form of necromancy whereby scientists conjure the spirits of the netherworld into circuits to do their vile bidding.

This story stinks. The kid's dad:
http://www.okayafrica.com/news....ckstory
He also served as self-elected president of the small Sufi Muslim AlSufi center in Irving.

Mohamed has also run for president of Sudan on two separate occasions.

Mohamed also made headlines for his bizarre role in Rev. Terry Jones’ incendiary Quran trial

Muslim leaders in Texas, meanwhile, doubted his claims to religious and scholarly leadership.

"It was spring break and he wanted to take his wife and five kids to Disney World: to ‘kill two birds with one stone,’ as he put it.” "

Also, this is the clock:
http://makezine.com/2015/09/16/this-is-ahmed-mohameds-clock/
Inside it, the electronics appear less as a combination of miscellaneous parts wired together into a timepiece, and more so as simply the guts of a standard digital alarm clock

The kid didn't "make" a clock. He took apart a clock and put it in some kind of metal case. That's not "STEM," even if you're wearing a NASA t-shirt.

Those aren't standard clock parts. That main board is not out of a commercially produced digital clock; the traces are way too wide and the contact points too large. It looks more like something out of a project kit.
