Yeah, just a spam message from someone using robinhood's contact data.

No, I meant was the mimicking your company? I thought that was an internal one.
It really amazes me how people at the office fall for spams/scams. We have TWO external tags, one in the subject and another in the body of the message. But because it says "CompanyName Help Desk" they think it's true, even though we don't have any account that says such a thing and the return address is something like "
obviouscam@usehfuehfuhfnwkj.rus".

Ah, yeah, except the "company" is my last name, since that's the domain name.

As we head towards Black Friday and X-Mas shopping,

Picked up my kid from college today. He tells me that recently, the school's email server got hacked. Everything sent from a school email account went to the entire address list of everyone with a student account. If anyone replied to it, that reply was sent to the same thousands of people. He said everyone woke up to thousands and thousands of messages in their in boxes.

That sounds more like a horrible misconfiguration? But, maybe.
One of the people at work fell for a scam. Bought gift cards for his "boss." Dude has only been here a week, only recently updated his LinkedIn, but bam - they went to work on him. Got an email (no links) just asking him to confirm his cellphone number, and he did.

Official word from school was "IT Breach." But if I was the IT guy and I did it and my job was at stake, I'd prolly claim the same.

I don't know where I saw this one yesterday, but a picture of Elon offering to double your digital currency because "freedom".
I wonder how many people fall for these things?

Enough people to make it profitable. Lots of people think that a decent # of rich people got there through limited opportunities, and they see shit like this as their limited opportunity. It makes me sad.

I remember Dennis Miller's stand up in the late 80s/early 90s talking about an ad in the back of a magazine from way back in the day that said, "Find out how to avoid scams. Send $10..."
Wonder how much that person made?
I think I have zero shot of ever getting rich because I have ethics and a moral compass. My dumb parents shackled me with those when I was growing up.

You can get rich even with ethics and a moral compass. But they don't help.
