We used to do "front leaning rest" for several minutes at a time. That is the "up" position of a push-up. They usually didn't let us stop until everybody had a pool of sweat under his nose.

SecDef just wrecked what I think was a CNN reporter at this ISIS press conference.

Topic was where and how US SF forces coordinate with local troops in gunfights. Mattis described it as "back of line in conceal + cover"
CNN reporter " but recently they lost XX Ranger who was reported to be 'alongside' partner forces?"
Mattis: Lady, patrols are unpredictable, these are dangerous places, our guys aren't in the business of selling life insurance door to door.

Yeah, that sucks.

In Full Metal Jacket, even though it was generally an anti-war film, the bootcamp scene was so dead-on that Marines fucking LOVED it. A copy of that VHS could be found in every duty hut in the Corps.

Although, it may be because we all fantasized about killing our DIs at one time or another.

There's a Marine that works in the office. He got to meet RLE and get his pic taken with him. Of course, he asked "what was it like kissing Jack Black" and Ermey said something like, I'm gonna punch you in the throat.
