Then you'd have something interesting.
How deep can one nest USB hubs?
It's not a question of nesting. There's an absolute limit on how many devices you get. Think it's 127 devices, given no other constraints (power, cooling, etc.).

GORDON wrote:Update, because I know you are all waiting breathlessly for more news on my server:
Three days later and amazon still wasn't giving me an estimated shipping date. I sent a polite request to amazon custserv asking if they could give me new info.... a couple hours later I got a response that said yeah, the item has been back ordered, sorry about that. And if I didn't want to wait I could cancel that order and buy the same thing from this 3rd party seller (still fulfilled by amazon though), and even though it is $40 more expensive, they would sell it to me for my original price.
So go, amazon.
Amusingly, this other machine I ordered appears to be on backorder, as well, in spite of them claiming to have 6 in stock when I ordered. This is why Amazon custserv told me to buy from that specific seller. I think these 3rd party sellers are lying to amazon about their stock.

Still backordered on amazon, 3rd party seller still claims "In stock." Cancelled the order and paid $20 more for the same thing on newegg, which also claims to be "in stock."

1. monoprice.com is now peering with amazon.com at payment time. You can use all of your payment methods and addresses on file at amazon in the monoprice shopping cart.
2. It is starting to feel like newegg.com is getting kind of tricky with their payment scheme. With amazon you don't get charged until the item ships. Newegg took my order, verified my card, put the order in "Packaging" status within 2 minutes and charged my card. It has been in that status since 9am, and I only ordered the one thing. Maybe it'll ship tomorrow, maybe it won't, maybe it too is on backorder and it will be weeks, who knows.... but I already paid for it and can't cancel the order. I dont remember newegg doing that in the past.

I take it back, "Shipped."
You win this round, newegg....

I bought something on there that took a month or so to ship.

Were you charged immediately?
And the ThinkServer shipped from Ontario. Weird. That's just an hour away from me... hopefully it is Windsor, and maybe I'll have it tomorrow.

Goddamnit. I might be thinking of Amazon for the "took a month to ship" thing. From the emails still left, I can't tell if it took forever before shipping or during shipping.

I am staring to think "Ontario, CA" might mean California, not Canada.
Assuming there is an Ontario in California.
