I went with Zero. Sniping and stealth seems like it'll be fun.

One thing that irritated me right out of the gate was the "Loyalty Reward". There's something there for you if you played the first game, which I did, a LOT. However, none of those save games are on my system, so it doesn't know that. Makes me want to play the first one again.

The Loyalty Reward is just a set of skins or different "heads" for each of the charecters. They are pretty cool, but not all that important in the end since you will be finding new ones as you go. I won't be able to get that reward either as my saved game from the first game is on my old X-box, and that was trashed a few years ago.

I played through the first "boss", and here are my thoughts:

1. The opening isn't as cool as the first game's opening. Mainly because the song isn't as good. Thy did add a nice twist to the original opening moment though...

2. Claptrap is awesome. Listen to him closely when you get to an area where the ground is shaking.

3. I was disappointed about my loyalty reward, but I do think I have a saved game on my old system that was pretty far along. I'm going to check tonight.

4. I didn't get anything yet for my pre-order. I'll follow up more on that later.

5. I haven't really done shit yet except finish the "introduction" area.

We need to get four people on here playing this game co-op.

It's just too much fun.

Hmm, at least when there's 5 classes, there'll be a bit of variety in team formation. Planning to go Zer0 for co-op, Leish?

So yesterday i sign in and put in the code for my "premier club" membership and low and behold i get 2 golden keys!

I then found this on thier forums a bit later on. Leisher, if you said you were having problems maybe this will help

Shift is our way to reward fans like you with additional in-game items for Borderlands 2, such as Golden Keys, loot, and other goodies.

My understanding is that you get a bonus Golden Key only if you link your Shift account to any given platform (PSN, Steam Xbox 360) from within Borderlands 2 -- not the site itself. Upon linking your Shift account from in-game (Main Menu -> Extras -> Shift Code) the Golden Key is automatically added to your inventory not sent as a code in a separate e-mail.

We're working to clarify the details on both the Shift site and in the confirmation e-mails we send out.

i've read that alot of people are having troubles with this whole "shift" signup and getting in the premier club. So here is their forums link, there is lots of information to be found on there.

I don't know about him for co-op. I think I could use him again, but I'd build him differently.

Right now I'm building him with Melee in mind. The goal is to walk into battles invisible, kill someone, go invisible again, and repeat until everyone is dead.

However, in co-op I'd build him as a sniper.

Speaking of co-op, I'm willing and able, but I'd have to do it outside of LoL. I'm trying to get Gordo to give the game a try. He just bought the original...

Are you on my Steam list Malcolm? My tag there is Leisher just like here.

I love that they really upped the dialogue in this game. The one liners that the enemy and Claptrap drop are hilarious.

Going to the console thing, you'll need every bit of the aiming assistant you can get. The psychos move differently in this game, and actually duck and weave. I have moments of difficulty with the accurate mouse. I can't imagine how tough it'd be on a thumb stick.

Last night when I launched the game everything popped up for me. I got my Gearbox weapons, I got my key, etc.

So I don't know if I need this "Shift" thing, but I'll check it out.

By the way, let's set a rule right now: NO SPOILERS in this thread!!!!

One of us is bound to get way ahead in the game, so don't ruin anything for folks farther back in the story.

Not on Steam. My game doesn't ship for another 10 days or so (bought other things with it).

My buddy got this yesterday, so I saw a bit of the gameplay. I also saw him walk up to a golden chest (him unaware, me fully aware) and open it with his key, which was kind of funny, but also kind of informative.

He's going with the Siren, Maya. Was around level 7-10 when I saw him, but she looks to be the most versatile for skills -- healer, damage, or crowd control. Doesn't look like there are gun types tied to classes anymore, nor separate gun skills. On the flip side, being able to choose your quest rewards is awesome.

Up until he opened the golden chest, he was barely getting by solo'ing critters half his level. The psychos do indeed move like psychos, too. I always figured doing Moxxxi's DLC on the original Borderlands would be ten times easier with a mouse and keyboard. However, once he started brandishing the purple weapons, most everything except the most heavily armoured critters were dropping in 3-4 shots. Difference was night and day.

EDIT: After watching about five minutes of game footage last night, I said, "For the third one, they ought to get me or the dude that does Bender's voice to be Claptrap."

As for co-op, I've got loads of experience with turret dude from the original, I'm sure turret dude in the sequel isn't too different. It'd be either him or the zerker.

EDIT: Holy jeebus, turret dude's defensive + heavy offense skill trees look like they'd be insanely destructive. 2x turrets plus 2x guns w\ slag bullets plus missile volleys.

Once i got to the golden chest i just turned off the game. The urge to open it right then and there was too much for me to handle. But since i've got 2 keys now, i'll prolly just go ahead and open it up when i get to level 10.

It will be a nice early weapon to use for my other characters i use and should be good till level 15-20 im guessing. Then i plan on using the other one at around level 20. After that purple guns should be pretty common.

Im level 8 right now and i've already found a purple pistol that shoots lobbing fire shots. Pretty cool with its scope on i can lob a shot or two in an area and watch them phychos burn and soften em up.

I decided to go with the Gunzerker just so i could lay waste and be tanky at the same time. But i must admit, its been pretty hard playing him solo. His Gunzerk mode is incredibly innacurate at such a low level, but if you do happen to put some rounds on someone, GOODNIGHT!

I haven't seen the Golden Chest yet...

Although, I've only played about 3 hours total. I've gone though, and I assume he represents the main quest. So through the intro, and have completed a few missions in the first town. I have NOT gone very far with Claptrap my guess is that's where I'll see the Golden Chest.

I'm also kind of a completionist, so I take my time going through games as I want to see everything. I'll get to the chest when I get there. Hopefully, I'll have two golden keys when I get there.

The chests are in a place called Sanctuary. It's a city and they call it out by name. Pay attention when you're there, especially if you put your brain on autopilot when looting containers. There's no prompt for, "Do you want to use your key," or anything. It just opens.

There is a tiny little icon that pops up next to it when you approach it, but if you're not paying attention you prolly wont see it.

It is located by the "new you" station in sanctuary, it should be pretty obvioius if your aware of this.

This is why I don't co-op with people here. Some are already playing the game and will know it before going through it as a group. I'd hate my first time through to be tainted by someone knowing when to duck and what room to not go into because they've already been there.

Borderlands is too awesome to sit around and wait for people to maybe get on around 11 so you can play it.

It's also entirely too large to co-op unless you're dedicated.

It's also so much fun that you'll play through it multiple times as different classes.

I get what you're saying, but I don't really agree. When Stranger and I co-oped the first one, I'm pretty sure he already played through most of it, but that didn't affect his enjoyment. Didn't affect mine as I played through it myself first on X-Box and then on the PC.

Anyway, the point is if we actually had a group of folks who wanted to go through it, it's the best co-op shooter ever. Period. Nothing else is close. You'd have one of each class bringing different specialties to the fights. The monsters and loot are jacked up to reflect four players in game. It makes sense to divide loot up to make sure the guy who needs to sniper rifle, gets the sniper rifles, etc.

I've just arrived in Sanctuary, and I found the golden chest. Haven't opened it.

I've barely scratched the game, and I'm already excited about my next playthrough with the turret guy.

10+ hour Torque expansion rumor.

Minecraft Easter Egg in BL2. (Spoilers might be at that last video. I didn't notice any, but just be warned.)

Also, thanks Stranger. I got my 2nd golden key last night by signing up for Shift. Now I just need to figure out when to use one of them...

I opened my first box at level 10 last night. Got 2 purple grenade mods... they are nice and do some good damage, but no special effects or elemental damage of any sorts. so meh... kind of a bummer there.

I also got onto xbox live and tried the co-op for the first time. Matchmaking is really easy and its easy to find people that are on the same level as you and even at the same part of the story as you are.

Obviously you are at the mercy of whomever you get pair with. I actually got lucky and joined a game with someone that wasn't a stupid ass kid and we worked together well at getting objectives done and sharing weapons. As we kept playing other players would drop in and out and it had no effect on us playing our game but the difficulty ramped up pretty significantly.

This game really shines when the multiplayer madness gets going. Needless to say, there is a neverending stream of enemies to kill so teamwork is really important, cause you're gonna die, alot. But your teammates can revive you so the fights have a nice ebb and flow if you know how each character works.

I play the Salvador and the other guy was playing zero, at one time we had two zero's and two zerkers playing at the same time and WOW, the action on screen was insane. Playing solo just doesn't do this game justice, i'm only level 14 right now and i must say this game outdoes the first one by a mile, enemies are much harder and smarter and the story is hilarious.

There's no way in fucking hell I'll randomly co-op. That's like jamming your dick in a garbage disposal and hoping it doesn't get sliced off.
