Rhian was kept in for monitoring overnight - and even tried to discharge herself after a few hours in hospital.

However, later that night Ffion received a phone call at 2am from her mum to say Rhian was unresponsive and to urgently come to hospital.

The stress comment was September 2020. She died in March 2021 while in the hospital being monitored. And the comments were only made after other common conditions were ruled out from testing. It's not like they did nothing.

A local hospital sent me home twice thinking I had kidney stones. On the third visit it was emergency surgery because the blood clot causing the issues and had basically killed my left kidney was a danger to release and outright kill me.

They are very lucky I'm not litigious.

Doctors and human beings and human beings make mistakes. Add onto that the ridiculous cost of tests and whatnot and it all equals a system where doctors are encouraged to rush to conclusions.

The company that health insurance companies outsource to deny claims is actually called EvilCore.

This was 100% targeted and the shooter appears to be an expert. By the grainy video, it looks like he had a silencer too.

The biggest question now is does this start a new trend? And in all seriousness, an earned one. This was bound to happen. You would have to be a complete idiot to not see such a possibility. Haven't they made movies about this very thing?

And to be clear, this is not a condemnation of these companies' right to make money. Just pointing out the reality that most Americans live pay check to pay check and many families go homeless, bankrupt, watch loved ones die, etc. because of medical costs/bills. Having these companies rake in massive profits while medical costs are completely unaffordable for most people will inevitably lead to violence.

Really tough line to walk celebrating profits while denying patients life saving/improving treatment. If I was the CEO, I would downplay earnings announcements as much as possible.

It might be true, but "investors losing millions!" when the company has a market cap of $540 BILLION sounds like noise in the grand scheme of life. The investigation stuff certainly seems to be true, but the impact to investors doesn't seem massive.

The CFO just showed me the claim denial rate for the major insurance companies. Guess who was #1 at 32%...

Kevin Smith tells a good story about Prince telling his assistants he wanted a giraffe. The problem was that it was the middle of winter in Minnesota. They couldn't tell him why it was an impossible task. I don't remember if they managed to pull it off or they distracted him with something else, but it shows how out of touch people at that level get.

Doesn't mean they're bad people or malicious. Just that they are far, far removed from our reality.

And since they won't cap profits, everyone paying for medical insurance is soon going to be paying 30% more when the 30% of denials all stop.

Admittedly, a computer can do a lot in 1 second. I was reading about the AI a couple of weeks ago, my understanding was that ALL AI denials are human-reviewed afterwards.

According to the PSI's report, a UnitedHealthcare committee approved using "Machine Assisted Prior Authorization" to speed up the process of reviewing medical requests in April 2021. The committee was told doctors or nurses still had to verify the evidence, but testing showed the technology could cut review time by 6-10 minutes, the report said.

UnitedHealthcare tested a new "HCE Auto Authorization Model" in early 2021, and internal meeting notes revealed that it produced "faster handle times" for cases. But there was also an increase in the number of cases that were denied due to the system catching errors that were missed in the original review, according to the report. The report said the committee voted to tentatively approve the model at a meeting a month later.

This says "review the evidence" so a bit unclear.

People don't care that the AI is doing denials at a much more efficient pace.

They care that their mother's doctor said she needed treatment X, the insurance company denied it, they all assume it was a blanket denial, and then someone wrote words on the shell casings that took out the head of the insurance company that killed their mom. Or kid, for that matter.

They'll either need to hire better security, or stop denying 30% of claims. They are not going to do anything that reduces profits... I imagine ex-Mossad will be approved by the Board.

And it won't be a good look. And will increase the anger.

And let's not forget Evi(l)Core. They are maximizing the profits of maximizing the profits, and they only have to kill a few people per day to do it.

I hope this assassination leads to some meaningful change. I think there's been a lot of simmering anger of health care, especially since Obamacare was passed that was sold on a mountain of lies.
