I like to participate in internet discussions about them as they air.
Problem this year is that apparently the first 2-4 episodes have leaked and people are already discussing them. Fuckers.

I read that the first four episodes leaked, and there could be more to come.
Dish Network had free HBO so I watched the last several episodes to catch up before watching the season premier. I'll watch future episodes via HBO Now.

Yeah, this sucks. Either I pirate the leaked eps anyway or I can't participate in the weekly spoiler discussions for the next month because people are already ahead and discussing spoilers. No point in paying for HBO if I am just going to DL them anyway.

HBO going after the peeps who shared the leaked files:

HBO going after bars throwing Game of Thrones viewing parties.

Yeah, this behaviour will stop the pirates. Thanks for proving us right, scared, old, mummy dick-sucking pricks at HBO.

Well Gordon was already raging in this thread about the leaked episodes, he and HBO might even be on the same side for that particular issue...
e: not the bar thing, that's fucking stupid

I wouldn't say I was RAGING..... but I do find the situation to be a bummer. This is one of the few shows I enjoy discussing week to week, and now a third of that fun has been ruined.

Just watched S05E06, "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken."
I was hoping since the show was veering so far away from the books it would start being less brutal to the nice characters.
Nope.

Latest ep pissed off a Missouri Senator, so it's probably doing something right.

Murder, violent dismemberment, torture; these things are all fine but don't you dare show someone being coerced into sex they don't want. Because we all know that would never happen in a gentle and sweet place like Westeros.

I see two arguments about this subject:
1. There was a harsher rape scene in S01 Ep... 1 or 2 or 3. Whenever Dany married Drogo.
2. For some reason the show creators have turned 3 or 4 regular sex scenes from the book into rapes, and even I am wondering why.

More women who can't tell the difference between real and make-believe chime in.
"After the episode ended, I was gutted. I felt sick to my stomach. And then I was angry," wrote Jill Pantozzi, the online publication's editor in chief. "Not only will there be those who hand-wave the scene simply on the basis of artistic integrity, there will be those who still don't consider it rape."
Everyone in that scene made thousands of dollars. It was done on a set, according to a script.

Sounds exactly like successful art, no?
I do see your point above GORDON on #2. I would be curious about which ones in particular and how that may reflect changes in the story or characters. It could be that it's just a better fit to their changed story, or it could be they are just sensationalizing more than is proper.
