I don't think that will get legs. Merging? No way. Netflix buying out BET in some effort to continue DEI...now you're going to get play.

I should really work in PR.

Yeah, Netflix has a $500 Bn market cap, BET is like $7.5 Billion according to a quick google.
Netflix stands up to Donald Trump's cancel culture against DEI by buying BET and putting them in charge of future programming! Share/Retweet to stand against Donald's racist hateful march against progress!!1!!1

I bet if they tried just a little, they could get colors that were even harder to differentiate.

I bet a woman made it. Because they see 5 different shades when a dude would say "uhh, pink."

Lol. Fair, but the main point remains.

So, you've all heard that Netflix and WB had entered exclusive negotiations for WB, which has everyone screaming end of days. So much so that Hollywood elite were all asking Trump to take action to block it.

That might all be moot though.

Today, Paramount launched a hostile takeover bid.

Great, more right wing media control. Which Trump would approve.

Ya. It's always better when the other party controls the media.

Considering Hollywood was asking Trump to kill the Netflix deal, I don't know what you want to happen.

Besides, the guy at the top of WB is right wing, and that didn't change shit on CNN.

Netflix Co-CEO says a dumb thing.
“We are a one-click cancel, so if the consumer says, ‘That’s too much for what I’m getting,’ they can cancel with one click,” Sarandos said.
Never say things like that stupid.

At least they do one-click cancel unlike shitty places like SiriusXM that make you call.

I've never heard of this before, but Netflix agrees to sit back a week as Paramount Skydance flirts with WB.

Netflix - "My dick is so magical that you can try all you want, but you won't woo her away from me."

My theory is Netflix had bidders remorse and we're happy to let Paramount take their shot, and are glad that they countered so they can back out. Or. They never wanted it, but bid it up to over extend Paramount in the hopes they can get it later for less as a bailout. Or they think the purchase will be blocked by the government and can then renegotiate with one fewer suitor.

Over all, I think Netflix changed their mind and are glad they dont have to go through with the purchase.

It's not a bad theory. It'll be lent more credibility if Netflix doesn't counter.

Netflix could definitely use WB and those properties, but they don't "need" it.

Thinking about DC being included reminded me that Netflix bought the rights to Mark Millar's universe years ago, and they never did shit with those characters.

I already saw an article that said Netflix said "you can have it". They were not going to counter.

Don't underestimate backdoor negotiating going on either.

Hollywood was very against Netflix winning. So much so that it put them in alignment with Trump who also didn't want Netflix to win.

I wonder if Netflix was talked out of their bid by Hollywood/government? And by that, I mean, given promises or even threats.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is COMPLETE SPECULATION on my part, but I think the odds of Netflix making an offer for Disney this year is greater than zero.

What if Netflix just let Paramount overbid for the shitty DCU, so they could pivot and go after Disney with no competition? Marvel, Star Wars, the entire Disney catalog, the entire 20th Century Fox catalog, Family Guy, The Orville, Disney+, ESPN, Hulu (there's the live TV piece that Netflix is missing...), etc.

Disney would be a much bigger prize than WB.
