Consider the colour of a weapon to be a tag affixed to it. Colour represents nothing more than how many standard deviations away the weapon generation was from "normal." This is why a level 20 white weapon will kick the ass of a level 15 purple more often than not. The level affects how powerful an item can be. After the generator gets through distributing all numbers, it gets highlighted a particular hue.

Rarity...

White < Green < Blue < Purple < Orange

EDIT: Check the challenges related to each loot category and you'll see the numbers go down for challenges as colour rarity goes up.

9 or 10pm EST tonight?

Don't know. I was stressing half the night about my badly leaking water heater in the basement, and my day still started at 6:30am as usual.

I'll plan for 9.

In fact, I might even try to start a chat with someone (so I have sound...more on that in a minute), then launch the game and just leave it up until we're actually ready to go. That way you guys can jump into both whenever and shop, loot containers in town, play slots, etc.

Thus, when everyone's on, we should be ready to go right away...

Ok, let's talk bugs. I have seen two bugs that affect my game:
1. If I don't start a Steam voice chat before I launch BL2, I'll have no in game sound.
2. Some games, and only multiplayer games, I will have full ammo according to my weapons, and the ammo vending machine, however if I go up to a chest with ammo I can take them all. Grenades are the only exception.

That second one will be why you see me empty an entire chest of all ammo, or why I wait until everyone else has gotten their ammo. I hit E and it grabs everything. Doesn't happen in solo games though, or in every multi game...

Oh yeah, let's be selective about what we're grabbing and when. There's too much "speed looting"and I don't think we're ensuring our team is built the way it should be built.

For example: If Cake is building Gunzerker as our tank, then he should have the best shields. Although, Malcolm probably has equal claim because he's doing a lot of melee attacks. I would be next based on me usually being right behind those two with my turret. Gordo should have the worst shields since he's the sniper.

I try to focus a variety of weapons, but I've got some love for assault rifles. There's a reason the Commando gets mods specifically for assault rifles... Right now my loadout is sniper, assault rifle, pistol, and rocket launcher. The only one I would like the "best" in our group is the assault rifle. The rest can be hand me downs or middle of the road stuff.

Gordo is the sniper and should have the best sniper rifle in the group.

Cake does loads with shotguns.

Malcolm seems to grab good pistols and SMGs.

I don't think grenades matter...?

Anyway, just wanted to point this out because I think we should focus on maximizing our roles. I don't want to see us get into a situation where our tank has a shield with 800 capacity, while our sniper has one with 3000 and resistance to melee damage.

Your sniper would.never choose a shield that reduces melee damage, for he is not a fucktard. Just last night i finally got a shield that did better than 700, just fyi.

You can selectively loot mags from ammo dumps. It's just a thin line between "tap to grab one" and "hold to grab everything."

Gun choice is mainly affected by preference & what mods are available to boost them. There are relics that specifically boost certain attrs for gun types. But class mods are different. Assassin mods are keyed to pistol or snipeys, for guns, or just melee. My looting is simply due to the fact that more loot means more cash means more things to buy. While I'm always on the lookout for better guns than I have currently, I ran tell within a second or so of glancing at an item if I'll give a shit about it. If I do and it's an SMG, I usually grab it. Other than that, I just grab it if it looks like cash fodder.

You should probably get an amp shield so it boosts your damage output.

Your Commando wasn't implying you did, don't be so defensive. It was an example. The sniper is usually part of my examples because he is usually the farthest from fights where he should be...

No, I know how the game works. I'm saying that despite having full ammo, if I go to a chest with ammo, it will show it as if I need it. It won't have the red line through it, and I can take it even though I don't need it. That is a bug. In my solo games, and half the multi games, all the ammo will have the red line, and whether I hold or tap "E", the ammo does not move.

Because of this bug, I don't want to stand there staring at icons in chests, while bring up different weapons and my inventory screen to see what ammo I need. Thus, I just grab an entire chest, particularly if you've all gone over it already or it's out of the way, and you won't ever come near it.

Again, I know how the game works :D

My speech was simply about making sure the right folks are getting the right items. We're all in such a mad rush to grab loot so we can play slots that it's out of control.

Remember the Wildlife Exploitation Center we went through last night? Remember all the fights and chests? Know how many items I picked up during that entire map? When we got back to the vending machines in the beginning I sold a shitty relic, shitty pistol, and a shitty shield. Everything else in my inventory was what I brought. (Cake later gave me that assault rifle he found on that map.)

If a mod is in a chest for an Assassin, nobody should be picking it up except you, unless they've asked you if you want it.

If there's a sniper rifle, the sniper should get first dibs. If there's a assault rifle, the commando. Shotguns for the gunzerker. Etc.

Hell, I started the night off last night giving Cake items that I had picked up and saved for him while playing as my mechromancer.

We ALL have been guilty of this crime, so don't think I'm picking on anyone. It's just that the issue really stood out to me last night. Not just because I walked out of that entire map holding three items, but also because my weapons were kind of shitty.

My assault rifle, at that time, was doing 160 or so per shot. That's terrible. I had a mediocre pistol that was hard to aim, and two sniper rifles. Why? Because those were the best guns I had available to me at that point.

If someone else had heavy hitting guns sitting in their inventory not being used, well it fucks us all.

Jesus, 160? I've had a rifle I picked up in the arena that I never use that does in excess of 200.

That's my point.

It's supposed to be co-op not every man for himself.

We don't exactly have HUDs that display our preferred weapons and stats. Hell, I picked up my 1200 shield from the shop.

Some weapons are obvious, like giving sniper rifles to the sniper or melee based weapons to the guy with a sword. Class specific mods are no brainers...

But you're right, which is why I'm pointing out what I carry.

I also think that what is shitty to some, is gold to another because they have not seen/had access to, the same weapons. Just because one has a 200+ assault weapons, doesn't mean we have all found one. There have been times where I'll be looking at something and think it's pretty good, then it's gone with someone calling it 'shitty'. I don't say anything because there's normally stuff happening and lots of stuff spawns. But, now I am cause it's a good time to bring it up. Don't assume everyone has the same weapon qualities as you do.

I have actually been using a couple assault weapons more than anything else. When in gunzerker mode, I like having two fast shooting weapons with lots of ammo and damage. Unfortunately, theses are the guns that lob the ammo at them. So, I have to be all up in the monster's business aiming at the ground. But when I do, it seems to melt the monsters pretty good. In my other two slots, I've got either pistols or shotguns depending on current loot status. I have at least one of every other gun/ammo type for those times when I'm out of preferred ammo types. I have 40k+ right now, so I'm not too concerned with selling stuff. I just want better weapons.

I was just pitching in my 2 cents. i was not being defensive. YOU are the one being DEFENSIVE. Also something about making you eat your own recycled shit or something.

Took a stupid delivery 5 packages in <90 seconds mission. Bah.

Also took a mission to kill someone with a slag weapon, did it. Then, I was supposed to kill 25 bandits with said weapon. Apparently I failed to equip it, and now cannot finish that damned mission,.

1. I did several dry runs of that "deliver the packages" mission, to get the exact travel route down. I ended up doing the actual mission in about 45 seconds.

2. Peeps respawn. Equip the gun and get your count up. You will actually visit the ammo store several times before you get to 25.

I did those within the last week, so they are fresh.

Up for finishing the side quests tonight? Only got 3 left, I think.
