Apple watches with the blood oxygen sensors are now 'banned' in the US. They lost a patent infringement case and they can't import any more. Stores are selling their remaining stock. Worth buying and reselling when the supply runs out? Considering grabbing a couple/few and seeing what happens over the next 30 days.

Supposedly it's something that can be fixed via software, so shouldn't/wouldn't take too long to fix and get re-instated?

Imagine if Apple just paid the $10 per watch patent licensing fee and just kept providing their product.

Apple has responded to the EU's demands that they open up their devices to third party apps, and it's basically designed to fuck over companies that go this route. It's a massive middle finger to the EU.

I realize that isn't very "free market", but when the primary fucking selling point of your phone IS your gatekeeping, then who the fuck is the EU to come along and tell you to dump what your consumers want?

Instead of allowing side loading, or whatever they call skipping the App Store, how about just forcing Apple to lower their fees to reasonable levels? Then the phone is still secure, the EU gets to act like they matter, and the people bribing EU officials get to make more money.

I'm with the EU, I'm surprised the monopoly lasted this long.

At the end of the day, history shows us this USUALLY doesn't change much of anything. But maybe this time will be different.

I absolutely understand your logic and 99% of the time agree, but I do believe that this time will be different.

The technological world's security is not keeping pace with innovation. You can never fully secure something, but until the persistent and completely ignored attacks from China, Russia, and their ilk are dealt with I think we're foolish to remove the biggest fence from the most secure device on the market.

Although, MDMs will be pushing the EU to not accept Apple's changes. Probably a good time to buy their stocks if you think the EU won't.
