I don't get it either.

Though the new sniper one-liners have made me laugh more than once... upon sniping a scout, my sniper said, "GOT YA, ya spastic little gremlin."

It looks like he's implying snipers are chickens that nest on the upper level, or something. That's all I can pick from it.

Possibly.

I'm not sure what I hate more, as a sniper, scouts or spies. At least with spies I have half a chance with the Razorback. Scouts with their knock-back shotguns... if they get on me and I don't see them, no defense.

The comic almost makes some minor sense if you read it right to left, but there must be a followup conclusion somewhere because that looks like the midpoint of a story of some sort.

As to killing snipers, if I'm up against a sniper I can't snipe, I tend to go scout, run up behind 'em, and bat their head in. Snipers in their scope are the slowest class to respond to a good head battin'.

The game is now free. Load it now, play it forever. Don't know if it's a limited time 'sale' that's making it free.

The TF2 talk in the other thread gave me an itch.... and I had no memory of not even having the game installed. Even at 600 KB/s it is going to take hours to DL, it looks like. If I knew where my Orange Box was (still) packed I'd just grab the DVD.

Dammit.

Anyway, here's an awesome vid. Watch it.

1 hour later, 17% downloaded.

Steam sucks, in some ways.

Fuckit. Realized I could find the disks in way less time than it will take to DL.

It'll still have a pretty big update. Best to just start the DL and let it run. Play tomorrow.

Even if you load from DVD, you'll have a crap ton of updates to download.

Still have to be faster than "all night."

Possibly.

I reread this entire thread while I was waiting. You used to play stuff, sometimes.

Is there a Valve site somewhere that shows you all current weapons in TF2? After about a year of not playing I am seeing some radically different ones out there.

I recommend the TF2 Wiki: http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Main_Page

Even new weapons show up within a few minutes of a patch. It's a very actively updated wiki. But skip the weapons page and go straight to the class you want to see the weapons of. The full weapons listing page isn't updated as much as it should be.

I also recommend this site: http://willitcraft.com/ which will look at your backpack and tell you what new items you can craft from the junk you have in there currently. As well as giving you the recipe to use. Pretty good stuff, that.

There is a thing I think soldiers were shooting, it flew like an RPG but actually looked like an energy weapon that sort of froze you in force lightning when it hit you.

What was that.

There's two things sort of like that. The one that is a primary weapon - replacement for the rocket launcher - is the Cow Mangler 5000:

There's also a smaller one that can't be reflected that is a replacement for the shotgun called The Righteous Bison which is more interesting.

I have the Cow Mangler 5000, and I don't think I care for it. Not needing ammo is nice, but not enough to balance out the slower firing, lessened damage, and lack of crits. But if you can pull off a nice fully-charged shot then it's not totally worthless. And besides, it looks kind of cool.

I don't have the Rightous Bison yet, but I want to get it and try it. It also does reduced damage and fires slow, but it does this odd thing where it pulses as it travels so it can sometimes travel through someone without hurting them and hit the guy behind them. But that's rare.

Ok, the Cow Mangler...

Know what a secondary effect of it is? When one of those glowing rounds are in your sniper scope, the dazzle of it makes it so the sniper can't see shit.

That I didn't know. I know they've tweaked the particle effects a couple of times, maybe that's something they'll fix. I don't see any indications anywhere that it's on purpose.
