This is the EPL table right now. Super hard to be perfect, but the USMNT were AT LEAST a Liverpool or a Chelsea in 2021.

AND WE SET records for playing babies. I think half of those fuckers could shave in those highlights.

When I saw the video Troy posted, the first microsecond of my glance had me thinking it was Jamie Tarte. :D

You may scoff, but expect a bump in soccer popularity thanks to Ted Lasso. I remember when Top Gun came out and the U.S. Navy was overwhelmed with people wanting to enlist.

And thanks Troy for keeping us up to date on the goings on of U.S. soccer. You have a much better grasp of the sport than anyone else around here.

Let me qualify this by saying we performed that way within CONCACAF, for the most part. We played some Asian and European teams but not many.

Worldwide, this looks about right:

I would like to see us against the teams in red.

Looks optimistic, but I've been here before and been disappointed. When they show up for real, I'll believe.

I believe that's untrue?

At this point aren't we a point off first? and top 3 + 1 go?

The difference between us Canada is that they have a draw vs a loss on the road.

And if I understand this right they have had more home games.

e: I do understand it. Canada hasn't won on the road yet, either. We have.

We're 1 pt from the play-in (4th), I consider that barely.

Seems nit picky. If you want to draw your conclusions from a snapshot of what the WCQ is now, you can't complain that the differential between the teams is low. It's 1/2 over, and yet we are 2nd.

The US won two trophies, and got second in WQ in CONCACAF qualifying in 2021.

USA USA.

We're at the halfway mark, and barely in. Halfway seems like a reasonable place to assess and adjust if necessary.

Josh Sargent, USMNT ginger left off the upcoming WCQ, did this Friday in the EPL:

His first goal. He followed it with another. So now he has two in the EPL + lifted his team out of relegation, for now.

Ooof. Just bad.

I don't understand why we changed at CB - it put us in a hole early. Pulisic is so bad right now - a liability.

Like of all the changes to make - HE stays, and goes 90.

This comes down to bad coaching I think.

What were the US even doing?

Outside of a few times by certain players, we ALWAYS slowed the play down when given the choice during changes in possession or general passing. We... ran the clock out on ourselves - if you will. There was no direct final play with any purpose, not enough dangerous through balls, just a overall coached purpose to pass the ball back as much as possible.

Which is something you do when you are ahead. Or tied, on the road. But we went down early and it seems like we never got out of that gear, didn't adjust tactics appropriately or didn't' communicate that need to the players. Very poor.

And get Pulisic tf off. He can get back in shape out of wcq games.

We remain in second having lost to #1 and the rest shaping out ok.

Just win now, two more wcq wins probably is enough, 4 games left, 1 more this window.
