Did someone at UND get hurt? Want me to cover that bet for you?
Gah... I'll pass... I just think it'll be more like Notre Dame by 10.

Fair because I bet MSU to win outright.

I don't know which is more surprising: MSU at #5, or WFU at #10. But go Sparty + The Deacs!

The rankings continue to be the biggest joke in all of sports.
MSU at #5 is fine because they play OSU in three weeks so that will work itself out. After @Nebraska and Purdue, OSU plays #5 MSU and then @ #9 TTUN.
Alabama at #3 is just comical. Go compare the drop for every other ranked team that lost versus Bama's "barely fall" despite losing to an unranked team. That's not saying I think Bama sucks, because I think they're top 4 easily. However, Cincy is at #2 and them being there is just so contrary to Bama at #3 and having four other undefeated teams ranked behind them. I mean, why is Cincy #2, Ok #4, MSU #5, and WF #10? There are 5 one loss teams head of at least one of them. And how in the hell is Notre Dame in the top 10?
The CFP rankings will be interesting. I think they'll be really similar, with the exception of Cincy. They're going to be the wild card. If the CFP ranks them in the top 4 with their schedule, then they are basically putting them into the playoff. That means they are really going to fuck over P5 schools who are their masters. If Cincy is in the top 4 guaranteed you're left with only three spots. An undefeated or 1 loss winner of the B1G East is probably guaranteed a spot as it's considered the toughest division in CFB this year. If Ok stays undefeated, they are in. But what happens if Wake stays undefeated? What if Oregon only has the 1 loss and OSU is in winning the B1G East considering they beat OSU? What if GA loses to Bama in a close game?
I wouldn't be shocked to see Cincy ranked at #5. That puts them close enough to be moved in or kept out depending on how other games play out.

Cuz they've only lost to the #2 team in the country?
Leisher wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 5:27 pm
Alabama at #3 is just comical.
So #3 is comical, but they should be #4? Not a huge diff.
Cincy #2 - Too cream puffy of a schedule.
I would go CFP:
Georgia
OU
Bama
MSU
Cincy
OSU
Oregon
And then I want to stop cuz it gets way too subjective. Actually, maybe I want stop before Oregon.
Most of this will sort itself out. But an undefeated WFU would make this ugly. ESPN says WFU is basically 50/50 in each of their remaining 4 games (plus the championship, if they make it, would probably be similar).

But they're not good and the consensus seems to be that Cincy is overrated, so...

No, they should be somewhere like 7 or 8 if they dropped them like they dropped all the other ranked teams this year.

MSU
Cincy
OSU
Oregon
I honestly have no issue with that for the first one.
TCU fires Patterson.
That's kind of cold and shocking for a guy who made your football program.

If this happens:
13-0 Oklahoma
13-0 Cincinnati
12-1 Ohio State (B1G Champ)
12-1 Alabama (SEC Champ
12-1 Georgia
12-1 Oregon (PAC 12 Champ)
An 8 team playoff would have been ideal.
B1G champ
SEC champ
ACC champ
B12 champ
Pac-12 champ
At large - Cincy
At large - GA
At large - ND or some other 1 loss team like MSU (in the above scenario)
Win your conference and you're in. Make SoS a determining factor for the at large bids. That would encourage teams to not pad their schedules and encourage Go5 teams to schedule big boys for their ooc games.
Admittedly, this would give ND a huge advantage as their SoS has been traditionally pretty strong. Although, weaker lately due to the ACC being down. (That's not a shot!)

The first rankings of 2021 are in and they prove the bias.
GA at 1...yep.
Bama at 2...wut? Here is the bias. They lost to an unranked team, barely beat Florida, and the best win on their resume is #16 Ole Miss.
MSU at 3...Resume checks out. (But at this point can we just admit that the SEC and B1G are apparently ALWAYS going to have someone in?)
Oregon at 4...Sure, despite struggling with a bunch of teams they have the best win in the top 10. Plus, I think they want the west to watch again.
OSU at 5...Win and they're in. They play #3 in 3 weeks, #7 the week after that, and finish with whatever ranked team wins the B1G West.
Cincy at 6...Just like I said. I feel like they're going to platoon them there and only let them in if GA and/or Bama finish with two losses.
TTUN at 7...Lost to MSU, but OSU is still on their schedule. I think they would need tie breaker help to jump MSU and OSU.
OK at 8...beat somebody.
WF at 9...It'll take a miracle.
ND at 10...They need Cincy to lose.
Oh, and 5-3 Miss St is #17...Just plain ol' SEC bias.
