The second Obama term
Maybe this is what it takes. Actually give the liberals what they want: much, MUCH higher taxes. Everyone that makes over $1mil a year, 90% tax. No loopholes. Make sure the alternative minimum tax is applied... LIBERALLY. We have all kinds of new IRS agents, get them in the rich folks' houses, making sure they are not too unfair in their lifestyles.
I bet we see a much different bribe/campaign contribution pattern in 2016.
But actually, I don't care anymore.... I am waiting to watch it all burn.

I threw a "Maybe" at the invite. I am really trying hard to "get over it," because I don't loath EVERYONE in my family, and I don't want to hurt their feelings. But I really am done being nice and polite in the face of assholes, and I also don't want to ruin everyone elses holiday by showing up and then telling some of them to go fuck themselves if they say something stupid and insulting.GORDON wrote:And now it is time to decline the Thanksgiving Dinner invitation on Facebook. So, trying to get to a point where I can keep my mouth shut. But I really think those days are done.

I am 41 years old, and have a lot of gray hair. I think it is because I always, ALWAYS swallow stress, and never let my real opinions of stupidity fly in the name of 'keeping the peace.' It feels so good to be done with that.
On a better note, I now appreciate my friends more and I am tolerating their bullshit better than I was. I am getting it, now. I can see that the real assholes are the ones who pretend to be nice to you.

No thanks. Bigger gov't, even to screw over the people that want it, is not something I'll ever support.GORDON wrote:Maybe this is what it takes. Although, it would also be funny to watch the House refuse to introduce a tax hike, and watch us go another year without a budget, and watch it all burn that way, instead. The only difference is then the House gets the blame instead of the president.GORDON wrote:You can't stop it. Give them what they want so it will burn that much faster.
You can't stop it, you might as well embrace the madness.

You now have some choices...
1) Speak your mind freely and openly, even when it causes social static.
2) Just avoid the fuck out of everyone you can't stand.
3) Doing #1 when you can and #2 when you have to. If you are forced to put up with an otherwise insufferable fuckhead, remember that living well is the best revenge and people who maintain calmness are generally regarded as less insane than those who rant and rave.
You had to give it to him: he had a plan. And it started to make sense, in a Tyler sort of way. No fear. No distractions. The ability to let that which does not matter truly slide.

I'm already fucked when Obamacare kicks in. Not poor enough to get it for free, and not rich enough that buying health insurance isn't going to hurt, a lot. A whole lot.
So fuck it.

That's what I predict will happen in 4 years. We couldn't do anything because of the House!

Yeah. Aside from the morons on FB who think everything liberal/progressive equals the right thing to do, I've heard noone predict good things will come from Obamacare. We just went through our annual health insurance enrollment and the insurance lady called it a nightmare.
“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”
I've never heard you say anything so stupid that I felt like I had to swallow a harsh criticism of your opinion in order to "be nice."Leisher wrote:Never met that guyI am 41 years old, and have a lot of gray hair. As did we. I didn't hear a lot of, "Yeah, better options than last year."Leisher wrote:We just went through our annual health insurance enrollment and the insurance lady called it a nightmare.
