Universal did something like this with their Hogwarts Express, which takes you between the two parks. No natural windows showing you the backs of buildings... it is all screens showing you the English countryside and dementors and shit.

I got the sense that he was just saying that some fans would have hated whatever he did, which I think is valid. I think his veiled critique that the new movies really aren't doing a good job of telling a congruent end to episodes I-VI is also fair.

While it seems they understand there is a problem, from this story I'm not sure they understand what it is.

YouTube channels are blowing up with news that Bob Iger held a private conference call about Star Wars. The topic was how Kathleen Kennedy has completely fucked it up. There is word they've asked at least JJ Abrahm to take her job, which he immediately declined.

They know they have a huge problem based upon box office receipts and merchandise sales. They have more movies coming, although all but ep9 are now on hold, and two theme parks opening. Iger apparently knows without their core fanbase, they're fucked.

Ep9 is going to be interesting. Does JJ suck up to the left and Kathleen Kennedy by maintaining course or does he save Star Wars and throw out ep8?

I don't think Abrahm is the guy to fix it. I think this started to go off course when they decided that the last three chapters were going to start telling a new story rather than finish telling the original. And that was on Abrahm.
