The pokestop pictures, I assume, come from Google Maps, since Google still owns a significant part of this company.
Includes links to articles like the one where the guy was caught cheating because of the game.

There was a funny Pokemon story out of Toledo, today. A couple idiots broke into the zoo at 2am and went into the tiger enclosure.

I've tried cheating by driving slowly + biking slowly. The game dramatically undercounts my walking, so this was my attempt to 'correct' it. It doesn't work well. They have a speed limiter of around 15kph (or so I've heard), so it's hard to maintain that. Plus, given GPS accuracy issues, I'm not sure that it doesn't sometimes think you went faster when you didn't, etc.

Today I leveled up the gym near me (about .2 miles away), and put my Pokemon there. I got 10 gold coins, which are apparently worth about 10 cents. You get the coins every 21 hours your Pokemon stays.
For leveling up the gym, luckily the gym had a very low level first Pokemon (about 140 CP), and I just beat him, quit the fight, then went back, etc. Rinse repeat.
One thing I found out. I used a Pokemon that was only a little stronger (160 CP) and that got 181 prestige points (used to level up the gym). I also tried my best Pokemon (462 CP), and only got 100 points for that.

Where'd you hear they got into the tiger enclosure? The Blade article says they didn't get inside any enclosures or behind the scenes areas. The zoo says the people were apprehended within minutes of getting into the zoo.
So for the last two days I've had to drive during lunch, normally I eat at my desk, and doing so has netted me 12 potions, 14 revives, an incense, 100 Poke balls, and 9 eggs.

It's clearly fucked up. Somehow driving during lunch I got over 2km despite never walking, but in the golf cart and walking around last night I got .3km.

I heard it on Bob and Tom this morning.... basically, national news. I'm shocked their facts weren't correct. They explicitly said the people got between the outer and inner barriers of the tiger enclosures.

My kid loaded it up on his HTC smartphone and we took it out today after lunch..... this thing has serious GPS issues. We would stand still, and watch as our little avatar moved 50 yards back and forth across the street. It consistently could not figure out the difference between north and west, and we would be right on top of a critter and the camera couldn't see it.

1 - GPS issues may be the device, not the game. It just reads the input.
2 - I disabled the AR stuff so I don't have to use the camera.

What does "AR" stand for? I did the same, and my kid flipped out because he considered it "cheating."

Augmented Reality. Where it superimposes images onto your camera. I don't know if it's 'cheating' but it sure makes the game faster + less crashy.
What I really want to know is:
1) When should I upgrade a Pokemon, and when should I throw it away?
2) What Pokemon vs what Pokemon?

I'm going to say what I know simply based off PA comics.
1) Probably quite a hell of a debate.
2) The critters fall into broad categories. In general, one category kicks the shit out of another with a rock-paper-scissors kind of game.
I assure you, there are dedicated websites for it out there now.

1) I've never seen that game be so smooth.
2) That technique can supposedly win any battle.

With an active dodge mechanic it becomes whoever has the most powerful device wins.

I let the kid load it on MY phone, and it works for him fine. He caught one in our garage.

In line at Balance grabbing lunch and caught a Kakuna only worth 29 CP (I have no idea what any of that means). He broke out of 8 balls before the 9th finally held him. WTF is that shit?

Yeah, that happens. I lost 20 balls on something the other day, although, it was much more powerful.
Some people have speculated that it's a 'soft ban' where the game is making it harder on you cuz it thinks you are cheating (driving, etc). other people think it's server issues. other people say just bad RNG. Who knows.
