The latest season is providing noticeably fewer laughs than the previous one. I'm through 4, I think, and there are perhaps 2-3 watchable sequences across them all. The rest are simply DOA. The dance studio thing with the "Hamilton" dude was the fucking worst. That was "Tim and Eric Awesome Show" bad. Anyhow, she's got some scenes from her standup that occasionally transition between the skits. One had her addressing the shooting that happened during
Trainwreck and it drove me up a fucking wall.
She starts off about how she's not a fan of actors when they get political. Then she explains how she completely violated that rule in this instance and why. Something about seeing the faces and names of the victims on pins and t-shirts and shit. Then having their families ask for PR help from her because "people listen to you guys more than us" and she didn't have the emotional fortitude to turn them down. Honestly? Fuck that attitude and those who believe it. It's no better than replacing saints and holy books with celebrities and their social media accounts. How many bajillion gun control PACs are there in the country? Hundreds? Thousands? Are you trying to tell me that the silence of famous people is what's holding them back? I get you just lost a son or daughter or whatever, but it doesn't mean I'm behind your plan to drown in helpless self-pity. Stop dragging in surrogates and expecting them to be your salvation. Why prompts this?
This is what happens when you listen to whores of that nature.
Almost every food or drink a music celebrity endorses and promotes through commercials and advertisements is unhealthy, according to a new study from NYU researchers. That’s a shame, the study authors argue, since most of the stars promoting these products—from One Direction to Beyoncé—are popular among kids and teens.
...
The study is the first to show how many music celebrities are involved in food advertising. “Which is important because some of these contracts are worth millions of dollars, suggesting that food companies really get a lot of value out of them,” says Bragg. For example, the researchers note that in 2012, Beyoncé signed an estimated $50 million endorsement deal with Pepsi, and Justin Timberlake received an estimated $6 million for his role in the McDonald’s “I’m lovin’ it” jingle.
This is the demographic you expect to bring you the truth? You're shitting me. Amy Schumer is in an ad campaign for Bud Light. I'll bet every penny I have right now that beer has a higher body count than guns on a daily basis. Let's fucking see.
Here's the
URL for the gun control group Amy spotlighted on her show. 91 people per day on average die by shooting in this country. Let's see what the
CDC says about booze.
Drinking too much can harm your health. Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths ... each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010
88K / 365 ~= 241. It seems Amy's more than happy not to speak out against the liquor industry. Hell, she's signing on and endorsing it.
