Elon did a weird Nazi like salute today, which, uh, can someone tell him? Video below, along with some other examples of people doing the same.

I really have no idea why anyone does anything remotely like this gesture. The last thing before you go on stage should be someone saying, "Don't do a Nazi salute."

I would not have recognized the heart/side/wave thingie as a nazi salute. I thought a nazi salute was standing at attention, and arm straight out in front, at like a 45 degree angle.

But there's not a doubt in my mind that lots of people think it was a literal nazi salute because he is a secret nazi that attends the meetings and has a closet full of nazi uniforms that he keeps having to let out because they get snug and for a second he forgot he was in public and out came the heil hitler.

Because so many people are sooooooo fucking stupid.

I don't know what they were doing in those images (although Kamala's arm, hand, and fingers are pretty damn straight), but I've seen a whole hell of a lot of politicians doing the half hearted Nazi salute that you see in historical videos. I've also seen lots of people make similar gestures in the business world and I thought it was all unintentional, but maybe there's some massive Nazi conspiracy that I'm not privy to? Pretty fucked up being a straight white man and not being invited to the meetings!

Do we really believe that he's an actual Nazi and that group is still going strong today? Or is it far more likely that this person has achieved the highest station in history for someone with his place on the spectrum and his social awkwardness is constantly on full display.

BTW, the apparent context of the gesture was that he said something along the lines of giving his heart to the crowd.

I don't care. Run that by someone first.

He ends his speech and is saying good buy to the crowd, then realizes what he was just doing and dives back on the mic "My heart goes out to you!".

It really is the ultimate sign of stupidity or bias to genuinely believe someone is intentionally throwing up Nazi salutes in 2025.

BTW, it's fucking stupid no matter the sign, who does it, and who calls it out.

Besides a celeb touching their nose to tell a loved one they're thinking about them, nobody on camera is throwing up secret signs. To believe otherwise is ludicrous by even conspiracy theorist or flat Earther standards.

"Hey, we've got the people on our side, let's intentionally throw up the most hateful symbol possible and jeopardize everything!" Completely logical.

I can throw up the Bloods sign with the best of them, but I'm not in the gang.

Ok, I’m in the camp that Elon did it on purpose. To be an edge lord. The same reason he has been paying pro gamers to grind games as him. To impress 4chan. So… who cares.

The definition of "nazi salute" is getting pretty broad.

Nobody actually believes anyone is doing a Nazi salute or promoting white supremacy with the "ok" gesture or purposely offending Muslims/Latinos with the thumbs up sign, etc.

It's all about justifying their feelings about a person/group/party/etc.

Those aren't videos.

They're cleaner nazi salutes than anything Elon just did.

It occurred to me last night.... is Elon even cancellable? If he wanted, couldn't he goose step out in a full nazi uniform, in blackface, and nothing in his life would change?

He would lose big with his publicly traded companies, probably get sued by shareholders, and would take a massive hit socially as he'd become akin to toxic waste.

I thought I remembered some thing that he was actutlly..... he lost control of Tesla, or something. Because he kept smoking weed on podcasts and it was making the board mad.

But still, he gets bad press for a week from the usual people, then what? He's still got the only name in space exploration/work.... NASA and ESA no longer compare. He's supplied the entire planet with internet. He controls what is (still?) (one of?) the most popular media platform.

I think the richest man in the world is automatically bulletproof (except for literally).
