Back in the apartment, up to play tonight. Friday games were a fucking blast. I think we went 5-2 (ish) against the teamed AI.
That one game we lost later, Leisher went down swinging, launching nukes everywhere.

I would love to tonight, but I'm booked. Might have some time here or there during the week, depending on kids (one starts lacrosse and the other starts tennis). Fridays are a lock.

Was watching some YouTube videos on this game yesterday, evidently the main Discord community was celebrating 30,000 members and did a 30 vs 30 battle! It looked insane, then i fell asleep.. I'll see if i can find that again. I can't believe you can play with that many people, every single node was covered from the start of the game.

What happened to our Friday gaming? I'm the only one that's been showing up. Is it the night? Is it the game? Is it me?!

I got busy and fell out of the habit.
I enjoyed BAR despite being mediocre at best, but yeah, it did become a bit monotonous. I don't think it helped that we didn't find a good balance for the AI. It was typically we walked over them or they walked over us.
There are other games I'd like to give a go, like Dying Light 2!!!!! We still have to actually beat The Forest (I think 4 can play?), Sons of the Forest is out and has amazing reviews, State of Decay 2 might be fun, I've been dying to play Generation Zero (which must be good because it's still always talked about on Steam and elsewhere), and the list goes on.
There's a game I just saw in my Discovery Queue on Steam called Crime Boss that has good reviews. They describe it as a softcore version of Payday, but with solo elements too.
Of course those are all FPSs and may not be inclusive to all gamers...
Truthfully, I wish Troy was still hosting D&D.
And after laying all that out, tonight is very iffy for me. Depends on what the kids do, and I won't know until I get home. The wife is working a show at the school, so I'm a solo parent and will have to run shitlins around, possibly entertain them, feed them, etc.

Looks like Dying light 2 with one of the DLC (Bloody Ties) is $24 until July 15th. Of those i'd be most down with that game since DL1 was pretty fun.
Although Sons of Forest is $21 and that would be fun too. I also liked the first one, but wouldn't mind trying the newer version.

Well, grab DL2 because I am 100% game for playing through that.

I thought we were waiting for the game of the year version of DL2. If we are going to skip the last expansion and just play now, I'm ok with that.
I would also do forest, but I'd want to stay on task. We would always focus on base building and never progress the story. I felt like it became a game where you had to hold off a growing swarm of bad guys each round. Which was fun, but always died a quick death because the server wasn't persistent. It was like Rust light playing against NPCs. Lets focus on the story.

When does the last expansion drop?

This is the part of The Forest I got confused about. Do we even need a base? If not, why is it in the game at all?
If we skip the base, can we just rip through the story? Then we could move onto SotF.

No idea if they even have plans for another DLC. I'm down with it, but still gonna be hit and miss on Friday nights for a bit yet.

Been so busy with new house stuff, and have a bunch of summer trials. I'm still up for gaming when I can. Up to try new things, own The Forest, etc.
I'm still gaming on BAR, if I play any game right now. I'll fire it up and hop in a 8v8 session. I just love playing against other people, it's always new and different. I got my first win playing the water lane! Our best player was constantly telling me I was doing it wrong but then I was effective and he shut up after a while, and we won.

Just like League of Legends. You can do it wrong, as long as your lane opponent does it more wrong!

Didn't play much but got one game of BAR in this week. I'm officially onsite in Orange County today so should have some more downtown on Friday nights for a few weeks.
In the game yesterday, It was wildly variable OS on each side values. high 40 low 10 (me). 40 OS is like a god amongst players.
Anyway, I did ok holding middle, our best player did sea planes on the back line. And opp best player did bots.
Right about the time their best player was T2 with bots and starting to abuse other lanes, our air player finished KILLING EVERY COMMANDER on the opposing team. I just kind of held my lane and stayed alive.
Wild skill level.

Should get a relatively early night off in Orange County and will be playing some BAR. There are too many temptations, and frankly, aggressive cougars, in the local bars.
I need to just grab a martini to go and game all night!

We went 2-1. Last game was so maddening because our best player shit the bed early and rage quit. I took his stuff, sort of stabilized, started macroing... and then got greedy and didn't build Anti-Nuke early on like I should have controlling the resources of two players.
And so I got nuked.

I couldn't find The Forest's thread, but we talk about The Forest in here so:
I finally got around to connecting my VR headset to my PC so I could play Steam games. It's kind of buggy. I also sometimes stare at a blank dark space wondering if it's actually doing something. However, when it works, it's pretty cool. The first game I tried was Super Hot. It's a lot of fun. Second game I played was The Forest. Make sure you take your motion sickness pills before playing!! I don't know if you can teleport, but I was playing using the joystick to move. The motion was smooth, so it wasn't too bad as far as motion sickness. Picking stuff up and using things was pretty good. As good as any other 'pick up and use' games I've played. I was able to build a small cabin and was just starting to move out of my 50' x 50' space I had been working in when I came across two natives. They had spears, I had an axe. They followed me a bit, but didn't do anything. I couldn't figure out how to make weapons, and that's when I decided to stop playing. Playing it in VR is pretty fun, WAY more immersive, but I'll be WAY slower with things until I get used to it. I had to do a fair amount of button mashing to learn the controls, and then there's no guide (that I could find) that tells you how to make weapons. I didn't have many resources to random guess recipes. Chopping the trees wasn't too bad. Just swing your arm a bit. You don't have to do full motion chopping swings.
I could play the game like this, but it would have to be on easy, and it would take a much longer time to get things done.
