I never noticed it before, but Oberyn Martell is almost the perfect blend of Carl Spackler and Tony Montana.

OMG that was brutal... and sadly expected.

Me "This isn't going to go well."

I wouldn't show the show to my kid, but I was showing him all the youtube "reactions to the mountain/viper fight..." he thought it was amusing, but didn't know the context so was like meh.

So... when they found out her aunt was dead, why didn't they keep going to the eyrie? Wouldn' it be logical that she might have other relatives if her aunt was there?

Why did the hound and the lady from tarth fight? that felt contrived.

But damn season 4 was good, and fuck yeah to Tyrion getting his revenge.

DOn't know why they didn't go on to the Eyrie. Maybe because shit would have hit the fan when Arya saw Littlefinger... didn't she know he set up Eddard? Or not. DOn't remember.

WHy did Hound and Beauty fight... because that is what he does. It was escalating and she didn't know what to do and he was getting more and more belligerent and she was carrying a Lannister sword and that makes her the enemy.

ANd it was funny that Imp bolted Dad on Father's Day.

I wondered that as well, but then it's no secret that Robin Arryn isn't very stable. I for one wouldn't want to go there if I knew he was in charge of the place.

Also, for a world as large as it is, people sure have a knack for running into each other.

Dude, that world is too fucking big. "It's 1,000 leagues to X!"

Well, fuck, you know that's gonna take like TWO MONTHS if you ride hard every day.

I think about it every time someone shows up in a different location. Stannis north of the Wall? What, did 3 months pass between Dragonstone/Bravos/Wall?

And I wrote that long speculation about King Robert going to Winterfell, and Kingslayer chucking Bran out the window, and someone still managing to try to assassinate Bran in his sleep. Now that we know it was Littlefinger via Crazy Lyza, there are some huge problems with how long it would take a crow to get word to King's Landing, and Littlefinger to arrange the assassin for Bran.... with Littlefinger's knife. We're talking like 4 months of planning, and Bran was still in the coma.

If this is already posted here, my bad, but I'm not even going to skim this thread as I want no spoilers. And no, I didn't watch this video. Just posting it here for later. GoT is the next show I'm going to start after OitNB.

I searched for this thread and hit "Reply" once it came up to avoid spoilers.

I'm only 9 episodes in, but I wanted to say that nobody in the history of film or TV has been a stupider character than Ned Stark. Hard to root for a bumbling fool or even feel sympathy for him.

I'm glad he's dead. Fuck him.

Yeah, people have made diagrams showing his long chain of one bad decision after another.

Indeed. He was just too trusting and thought too highly of people for the world in which he lived.

I finished Season 1 last night. Season 1 just seemed to be one long anal rape of the Starks.

Watching the next seasons should go faster as my wife said, "the show finally got interesting towards the end." Thus, I don't expect she'll stall as much.

She's very pissed about Aquaman being dead though. Her favorite scenes were of Aquaman and the smoking hot blonde. She was happy to see blondie written back into relevance by the end. The parts she thinks are the most boring are the scenes at the wall.

I'm enjoying the show, but not as much as I'm told I should, although in fairness I'm told my enjoyment level will go up with each season. I'm having a hard time getting past the stupidity of Ned Stark because his actions and inaction were the catalyst for this story. Hell, does any of this take place if his kid wasn't a peeping Tom or obeyed when he was told not to climb?

I will add one more thing: a friend gave me his HBO Go credentials, so I've got seasons 2-4 at my fingertips. I was looking through their catalog (and I'm very interested in Silicon Valley) when I saw the picture for GoT, and what I saw was interesting. No idea if it was two people just stuck together for the ad, an image from the show, or an ad for the show and these two people are together for a reason. It was Jon Snow and the blondie...

And with that, I doubt I'll return until I'm caught up.
