Borderlands 2
Got errands to run in the early evening. Gunning for 8-9pm for when I come back. Might have to kill the mic if the roommates draw the shitty 5am start shift for their jobs.

Son of a bitch. You're on EST? It's 9pm CST here. My bad.
EDIT: Call out a time tomorrow and I'll set my clock an hour early. I got a blank evening.

Shit I learned from the first outing...
1) the wiki has more detailed skill info than the game descriptions
2) think I need to turn my graphics down or get a higher powered laptop
3) we just need to get every enemy to chase us to the spot with the big gun

If you are thinking that ol Sal can "Tank" in the traditional way then it just isn't going to happen. My Sal is level 50 right now and i can tell you that i started with the Brawn tree build and its ok for the first playthrough. But when you get to the second playthrough you will still get downed all the time.Cakedaddy wrote:Things I learned. My guy can't tank shit. Doesn't have good damage so can't burst kill anything. Not sure what purpose he's supposed to serve yet.
I found that Sal is really hard to play for the first 15 to 20 levels. He is really reliant on having two good guns and they are hard to find at them low levels. Not to mention his accuracy while rampaging is so stupidly inaccurate, its literally spray and pray.
I can tell you though that Sal becomes beastmode around level 30. I switched from the brawn tree to Gunlust and Rampage and i can tell you he is SO much better this way. Carry around two shotties, and proc moneyshot like crazy. He seriously can deal some real damage in this way.
So i suggest to build into the brawn tree for the first 20 levels or so then respec over to the rampage, gunlust tree for serious damage output, you will get downed a little more but with "down not out" skill, you will be able to fight your way out of it much easier.
Don't think of Sal as a tank, it just isn't going to happen. Even at max level Brawn he can maybe take a few more shots, but i found its not worth it. Do more damage and you will stay alive that way.

Yep. More than once I'd drop a turret, and my team would run away from it leading the enemies out of its range.
The best turret moment was in that room with the midget riding the monster. I dropped it at the entrance trapping both those tough assholes in there with it.
My biggest problem with the turret was remembering to drop it...

As Stranger points out, Brick isn't in this game. No truly invincible tank. I'd take his advice, and then use cover more often. I'd watch you charge straight into enemies and go down pretty quickly. Nobody is that tanky. With all enemies focusing fire on you, you're toast. It also doesn't help when you run out 1000 yards in front of us. If this was LoL, you'd be screaming at us for being so far out of position.
Gordo and his sniper rifle should be that far out. You, Malcom, and I should be working together at the front lines. He's got the stealth and melee, I've got the turret and a machine gun (ho ho ho), and you're the dual wielding mini-tank.
Things I noticed:
1. If you are reviving someone, don't shoot or it stops the revive. Don't revive them 99% of the way and then pull off, only to leave them to die. Just run up, crouch, and do the revive. Watch the bar, and your shield/health. During the fight on the boats, I started reviving Gordo with full shield/health, and by the time I made it back to cover I had no shields, and 7 health. I think it's worth it though, as I think I saw us getting 100xp for each revive, and that adds up.
2. I thought we did a fairly decent job of splitting loot. Just be aware of what your teammates use, and let them have first dibs on those items:
-Leisher- Machine Guns & Pistols (Although, I think we should all sport at least one pistol as a backup gun.)
-Cake- Shotguns
-Gordon- Sniper Rifles
-Malcolm- SMGs
3. When it comes to shields, I think the best shields should go to Cake first, then Malcolm, then me, and finally Gordo. That's based on who is throwing themselves into danger the most. IF we see playstyles that warrant a change to that, we can talk about it then.
It wouldn't make sense for the sniper to sport a shield with 1000 hp and a 2 second recharge delay, while the mini tank has a shield with 400 hp and a 5 second delay.
3. Don't open any chests unless Gordo is there or he whines.

He's got an entire skill tree dedicated to soaking up damage and being more durable in general.
EDIT: As pointed out, you won't be like Arnold in Commando, though.

I'm waiting for the other two weapon equip slots to open up. Two projectile choices blows.
If I ever can't close to melee, I'll have a sniper. But I ought to be up front with a SMG, shotty, and the sword (which becomes fucking deadly the more I read into the skill trees). Zer0's cooldown is also noticeably short. Long as I stay alive, I should be alive to go invis quite a bit. Only lasts a short time so I ought to be up close and personal.
As for shields, eventually the turrets will provide cover for you with a force field. The hell's it called ... phalanx shield skill or something. Again, the wiki has real number where the game has vague prose descriptions, although there's still bullshit ambiguity like "low" health.
