I did have prior knowledge of this... woman cop claimed she was tired and accidentally went into the wrong building, wrong floor (compared to her own building), and wrong apartment, didn't realize it wasn't her decor, then shot the guy.
And IIRC, she had a prior fling with him and it didn't end well.
And even with all that, I am very surprised she was found guilty, since even with all of that she was probably still within "department policy" to kill the guy.

I haven't heard that anywhere

It was a long time ago. May have been bullshit. May not have.
But it was a murder charge, not manslaughter, which suggests planning and motive....

But disproportionately black + brown people...
So the white ones don't matter?
Also, you just going to ignore this is a woman who thought she was in her apartment and he was an intruder. Are you implying had he been white she would have made him tea instead of shooting him?

Neither have I. If it was a lovers situation, then it makes the family's statement about skin color all the more confusing, and racist if I'm being honest.
GORDON wrote: But it was a murder charge, not manslaughter, which suggests planning and motive....
Exactly why I asked the question I did.

Has anyone said that? Saying that brown/black matters, never means "white ones don't"

Probably would have humped him, if my knowledge of porn is correct. Although, I think that was supposed to happen in this case, too. Hmmm

It was part of the instructions to the jury that both were an option.

Of course they have. C'mon, too many people in the world and too much hate. You know someone has...
But my line was meant for levity. I did not expect a bullet point response.

I have never heard of that before. Interesting. I now fully believe this woman was made an example of because this was textbook manslaughter. Murder is premeditated. We have to be missing some details of the case.

I'm kind of surprised the defense team allowed ANY people of color on the jury. I mean.... NO WAY a cop is going to get an unbiased judgement, right?
But I understand that is a forbidden fact, and cannot be uttered.

You can try sifting through people who actually listened to the trial here:

From what I gather: She knew she was not in immediate danger, yet didn't call for any kind of backup or retreat from the situation. She just drew her weapon and went in.

Right?
Cops absolutely treat minorities differently, even minority cops, causing minorities to distrust them. I wonder if there's a reason for that besides "racism"? Do minority cops just become racists against people of their own race because of a badge?
If such discussions weren't verboten, perhaps as a society we could get to the heart of the issues and actually find solutions.
Nope, let's all stay ignorant about everyone else's viewpoints because that's not at all where bigotry and racism come from...

iirc, she had either texts or phone calls to the victim in the past. People (including myself) wondered if there had been a prior romantic relationship.

But not disproportionate to interactions by race. Police interact disproportionately with minorities because the neighborhoods where many of the calls come from are minority neighborhoods.

Exactly. There are absolutely bad cops and there are racist cops. But to constantly pretend that this is strictly a cop problem, and has nothing to do with the people in the community is ignorant and ridiculous.
Do you think a cop in Chicago will be more trigger happy in the affluent northern part of the city or the south side and its 50 shootings a weekend?

So, the cop is racist?

Ha! Unfortunately, according to our SJW society, yes.

Well, looking at the video, the person did this intentionally. And probably not in the "Circle game" way.

Well, it should. As soon as I use it without thought when I mean to say "Ok," and some other person decides to be offended, you know it's still all over.
Hell, I give that symbol through the aquarium window all the time at kids, without thought. Really have to be careful now, because other people are idiots and the world is fucking insane.
