Actually, something like this happened to me with Disney already.
They shutdown some video service and gave me vouchers for more movies on a new service

Spidey out of the MCU.
This is not a win for either company.
Marvel needs Spidey, especially in the next phase, and especially with Tom Holland who has a crazy high Q rating.
Sony needs Marvel and I cannot fathom their arrogance and ignorance of them thinking they can do it without Marvel. Their Spider-Man movies without Marvel sucked and didn't come close to a billion dollars.

I wont watch any more spiderman movies outside of the MCU. Won't even bother to pirate them. I never watched the Garfield movies.

I'm glad they'll have a chance to wrap up his storyline, the last movie ended on a cliffhanger.
Then I'd respect it if they told Sony to GF themselves, and let them destroy spiderman again.

He'll also be appearing in another MCU movie.
I don't think Sony brass understands what a tremendous fuck up this has been. They were making Peter Parker the next Tony Stark. He would have been the focal point of the next phase of Marvel movies. That means everything Spider-Man would have been huge. Now if they write him out of that role and shove him to the sideline it will hurt their profits.

I think it could hurt both sides. Marvel doesn't really have much in the announced pipeline that has people excited. X-men will help when they come online, but I even wonder how much their main buy in that line (Wolverine) will be hampered by Hugh Jackman's embodiment of that role.

Well, it's a new story. I think Marvel has to establish it before people get excited.
Vince wrote: X-men will help when they come online
That will be huge, but we're 10 years or more away from that.

Jackman was amazing in the role. It's too bad they never gave him even a single well written Wolverine movie.

A good response to Scorsese would be, "My Cousin Vinnie was a great movie, but audience tastes change. It isn't a big deal."
Or, simply, "Who?"

Meh... I don't know why everyone is so bent out of shape by this. The movies are great fun. I think both sides on this are kind of taking things way too serious. I think the serious film makers and connoisseurs are butt hurt that so many people want to go see this film. I think the fans are butt hurt that people don't think it's Gone With The Wind level art. I'm a man that owns a copy of the 1980 Flash Gordon and The Adventures of Backaroo Bonzai. I watch films that I enjoy. I don't need permission or validation from others on it.

An old man started talking shit about a thing that a lot of people liked. I don't mind if he gets some pushback on it.

Emphasis mine.
The 20 or so movies of the MCU that told one overall story has never been done before. It made more money than anything Hollywood has ever seen. It brought out audiences in a time when theaters are desperate to get people into theaters. The MCU was filled with great performances, great direction, great effects, etc. And the stories...sure they were about superheroes, but they were relatable. They showcased love, friendship, loss, death, winning in the face of insurmountable odds, corruption, sibling feuds, villains who weren't always truly evil, they included powerful messages about our current society, and I could go on forever here.
Most importantly, they were fun. Audiences laughed, cheered, and cried.
What are "serious" films doing that the MCU films didn't do?

I don't know, but can we have fun, plot-driven movies about people fucking where they don't get all emotionally disturbed and hung up? Like I want more movie than porn, but more sex than romance movies.
