In December, A Madea Christmas barely crossed $50 million, which was a slightly disappointing result for the mighty Madea franchise.
Even knowing that's "slightly disappointing" for a Madea movie, that still pretty much kills my faith in mankind.

Tyler Perry is to comedy as testicular cancer is to comedy.

Vince and I used to work with a black guy, he was a buddy. We'd go to lunch together once a week, or so, if his wife would let him hang with white people that week. She was very angry and very religious.
He was stunned at the random stupid conversations we white people would have.... usually talking about some sci-fi movie shit like how do black holes work, the feasibility of lasers, etc. He would say something like, "No wonder you white people rule the world... all black people talk about together is basketball and women."
My point being, I just generally don't find the shit black people generally find to be funny to actually be very funny, so I have no interest in entertainment aimed squarely at that demographic.

I found that most "black" movies are as hit and miss for me as other flicks. For instance I kind of like Friday and I still say, "You got knocked the fuck out," every now and again. The last one, like almost every third entry in a comedy franchise, sucked. But, for every I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, there ten versions of Soul Plane.

I liked Undercover Brother and Barbershop I think was the name of it.

Undercover Brother was alright. I liked Black Dynamite (Adult swim show and movie). Barbershop would have been a total waste for me without Ice Cube. Honey is one of the most painful cinematic experiences ever commercially released.

Hah.
People are mad because his newest cast is—gasp—all white. And that’s all right with Tyler. During an appearance on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Perry defended his show....
...
It’s time for white audiences to get the same mediocrity black audiences have dealt with from Tyler Perry
