TV: Lost Spoilers - Season 2 - Season 2 *SPECULATION SPOILERS*
"The Third Policeman" is supposed to be a part of episode III.
I had to read that book about 8 years ago. My memory may be a bit rusty.
What I remember is that we find out at the end of the book that the one-legged narrator has been dead the entire time, he just didn't know it. He dies by an exploding landmine under the floorboards. I think he robbed/murdered someone, then that person told him where to dig in the house. That location held a landmine... boom! When he finds out that he's dead, the story repeats at the begining. This loop is his hell, thereby his punishment for murder.
This would play into the "everyone is really dead" theory... which would suck if that where true.

Wow! If this person isn't BS'ing us, it makes a lot of sense and is an incredible spoiler.
I wouldn't be pissed if this theory is correct.

Still haven't watched the premier.
I got jerked around too much. There where too many lame twists.
Yeah, I can see Lost going that direction. I'd be much happier if they limited the show to two or three seasons. They'd say, "yeah, we're going to wrap this up. Season 4 will involve the Dharma Corp., but an entirely new cast and it'll involve a tour boat that somehow ends up in the Andes."
Then I'd know it's headed to a definate resolution.
I'm afraid that they're going to try to keep adding *crap* to make the series longer than it should be.

Yeah, this sort of show either has a set run planned and an end date on the calendar or they keep stretching it out until it gets cancelled before delivering on the answers that no one cares about anymore anyway because they stretched it out too long.
"ATTENTION: Customers browsing porn must hold magazines with both hands at all times!"
Yeah, exactly like the damn X-Files. I watched the first few seasons loyally up until the movie. After the movie they didn't pick things back up so I quit watching.
I meant to watch the last several episodes of the X-Files before the series ended, but never got around to it.
With Lost, the only reason I want back story is to see how it ties in to the main "WTF is going on on this island" plot. I don't care about custody battles with bitchy women, or quests to hunt down a con artist or working for a corrupt Korean father-in-law unless there's going to be a point *soon* where I can look back at those events and see them as supports for the overall structure of the mystery.

Good episode.
Did you notice that at the end of the previews for next week Jin was speaking English?
Since this is the spoiler thread...pay attention to Locke's love interest. You'll be seeing her again.

Someone suggested that Walt is speaking through Jin, hence the English.

I think the film has been edited from it's original format. I don't think they're supposed to use the computer at all. Here's how the scientist explains the button process:
Not long after the experiments began however, there was an incident, and since that time the following protocol has been observed.
<cut to him walking toward model>
Every 108 minutes a button must be pushed. From the moment the alarm sounds you will have 4 minutes to enter the code
<cut to his hand pointing to the computer>
...into the microcomputer processor.
<cut to him at the model again>
...induction into the program. (Obviously a bit of film is missing, maybe due to a bad edit when they inserted the "into the microcomputer processor" bit?)
<cut to closeup of scientist>
When the alarm sounds, either you or your partner must input the code. It is highly recommended that you and your partner take alternating shifts. In this manner you will stay as fresh and alert
<film skips>
utmost importance that when the alarm sounds the code be entered correctly and in a timely fashion.
Now do not attempt to use the computer for anythi
<cut>
Congratulations. Until your replacements arrive, the future of the project is in your hands.

How far back did the writers plan this Dharma stuff?
Quite a ways back.

BTW, that screencap is from Season 1, episode 3 (Tabula Tosa). A much better quality pic is on lost-media.com, in the photos section, on the last (14th) page of Episode 3.
