Thanks for that trailer Zetleft. I hate to say it, but Silent Hill looks good and seems to stick a lot closer to the game. If Uwe is behind this one, maybe the 10th time is a charm?
I've had to think about this one.
You know that feeling after watching a guy movie where you walk out in the parking lot and know... just KNOW that if someone fucked with you, that you could kick their ass?
That's a manly macho movie. A movie that makes you feel invincible (and stupid).
In that case, I'm not sure a musical could ever be made to make you happy. I've seen many in my life, but never have I wanted to walk outside and start punching people. Well except for that time I was forced to go see Annie.

Uwe has nothing to do with Silent Hill obviously. Yeah it seems to really reflect the game alot with those dead nurses, pyramid head and even the music from the Silent Hill 2 game at the very end. This one is directed by Christophe Gans who did Brotherhood of the Wolf. Heres to hoping for a good video game to movie translation.

Hold on there mal, Silent Hill trailer looks pretty damn cool. Plus it's got the chick from Pitch Black.
Silent Hill Trailer
Man, I so want this movie to be good. The missus and I have spent many a night getting freaked out by the games after putting the kids to bed.
That trailer sure does have the feel of the game down - creepy and filthy. Looks like I have the first definite "must watch" movie fof this year.

Doesn't mean I don't like any musicals. Just means they are as likely to make one a macho manly movie as they are to make a really great video game to film.

Well, he might at least have half a decent film then. Maybe.

Eh, it depends on your outlook.
Personally, I think eventually someone will do it right. My proof? Sin City.
Eventually someone will have respect for the original product and do something correctly. (My prediction is that Half-Life becomes that film. I have no reason why, just a hunch.)
I don't think the original Mortal Kombat was horrible. Especially considering the game's paper thin plot.

I've been saying this for years. The acting needed some help in a few places & the special effects look particularly dated, but it wasn't THAT bad. The sequel, on the other hand, sucked about two minutes in.

West Side Story : how can you bitch about a musical w\ a rape scene?
Guys & Dolls : getting a prissy Christian drunk, seducing, & taking advantage of her.
Spamalot : 'nuff said.

There is ONE macho manly musical. The greatest musical of all time, and something I think should be required viewing for ALL American citizens:

PCGamer got a sneak peek of the trailer for Dungeon Siege and proclaim that it will be a crime against humanity.
Considering the names in Dungeon Siege, Uwe Boll must be killed before he continues to ruin the haming industry and Hollywood.

There is an interview in the latest EGM with the director from Silent Hill. When asked what he thought of Roger Ebert saying video games aren't art:
"Fuck him. You know, I will say to this guy that he only has to read the critiques against cinema at the beginning of the 20th century. It was seen as a degenerate version of the live stage musicals. And this was a time when visionary dricters like Griffith were working. That means that Ebert is wrong. It's simple. Most people who despise a new medium are simply afraid to die, so they express their arrogance and fear like this. He will realize he is wrong on his deathbed."
Ouch and bravo.
P.S. There is an article about a video game designer early on in the issue. He looks JUST like Gordon + 200 pounds. Hilarious.
