Farcry and Doom 3 *with spoilers* - *spoilers* Turned into a spoiler thread
Let me add that I'm not a big fan of how the camera moves, as your head would, when you get swiped.
Its a case of adding realism where technology can't handle it.
The environment is already dark and most areas look exactly the same. Getting swiped and having a splatter of blood hit the screen as well as having your head turned so fast that you don't know which direction you went isn't realistic.
In real life you'd feel the blow and momentum of your head moving. You'd feel, see, hear, and sense your enviroment and attacker. You'd be able to respond correctly and instantly.
While I respect the realistic bits like that developers try to
add, the technology just isn't there to make it work properly.

Yep. Although, I want to point out that I'm not actually refering to the organism, but rather the area and event when you encounter it.

Last night I hit another area with the same effects... I just stopped for a minute and looked at the scenery. Doom 3 is by far the most... hmmm. Engrossing atmosphere of any game I've ever played.
Yeah, I've got to agree. Its the best atmosphere in a game I've ever played and easily the scariest game evar.
I haven't been this jittery playing an FPS since System Shock 2.
Far Cry is also beautiful, but it doesn't compare to how well this game is "put together" in terms of level design and how the levels work combined with the story. Far Cry does still have, by far, the best outdoor graphics.

No, no, wrong dogs. Although, those "dogs" are awesome. I love how their history is briefly explained in one of the PDAs.
I mean the cute little fella who sees you when you open a door and decides he wants to play with you. He comes over and well, let's just say nothing in his way will stop him.

I was crouched by the desk. I saw the whole thing happen. I was laughing as he was hitting the door and wondering if I should leave via the window...then he appeared in the window and I literally said, "oh shit".
There are so many moments in this game that just stand out as awesome. This is a well designed piece of software. You just know Half-Life 2 is going to be just as good if not better.

I'll admit it, I jumped three seperate times in the EPD lab. What the hell was that in the control room there. That actually freaked me out.
I really haven't enjoyed how the lights seem to be out a lot more in this area.
I really only have two problems that keep popping into my head while playing:
1. There are too many Marines in relation to how many other people there were, and in relation to how big the Marines' command center, armory, etc. was.
2. I hate the little corners that a lot of the zombies are tucked away in. The designers obviously wanted the cheap scares and to hide some of the zombies out of view, but you can hear them and it ruins my immersion in the game. It doesn't make sense that someone would become a zombie and then go hide in a corner just in case someone came along.

Just saw the guy on the ceiling. Awesome.
Did anyone else notice the very small computer screen in the area immediately after the EPD lab that you could manipulate? It asked you to backup your files due to a power outage. When you click it, it performs a backup, and then goes offline.
I'm just curious if my actions did anything. Like maybe it was a little scret that the developers put in to reward people for exploring?

I love how all the monsters are introduced via a cutscene. That being said, the exception to the rule is the spiders, whom I finally met. Still, they are introduced perfectly. I must admit, I had a good laugh with their victims. (try shooting one in the head)
I've reached an area with a moving bridge that I've had to jump to and use to get to different areas. I heard my sarge barking at me about which way to go and it sounded like there were two options.
That fits a review I read that said there were two ways to solve certain areas later in the game. One way would be a puzzle and the other full of battles. I must have chosen the battle direction on this one as I'm fighting my ass off. Anyone remember going a different route?
By the way, I've seen a few more of those "backup" screens I asked about. I wonder if there is a reward for finding them all...?

I initially went the other route, and spent about an hour in that room, not figuring out what to do.
