I didn't realize Georgia wanted to secede.
I think you're starting to get some really thin skin about Cali.
They can't discuss seceding and brag about their "World's 7th largest economy" even a month ago and now beg for help from the government they want to break away from, and not get teased. They're like a trust fund kid who acts like a know-it-all, bigshot until daddy threatens to cut off his allowance. (And yes, I know it's not "all" Californians.)
It's a horrible situation, but this request comes at a really good moment for comedic timing, and I'll be damned if I'm not going to make a joke about it.

It's not an apples-to-apples thing, though. Don't they have to pay to the feds a lot more than they take in money back? If so then as long as they are being robbed by the feds then there's no comedy in the fact that they ask for some back for an emergency project.
If they get more than they pay, though, then it could be considered funny.

Did you know that a human being could never actually turn into a "Hulk" after being exposed to that much gamma radiation?

So what's interesting is that Troy's quote indicates the US government (FERC) had control/authority over it. So it could be the US' fault from the beginning.

Only a handful of states pay more federal taxes than they receive, but Cali appears to be one of them.

I think it's a joint ownership situation. FERC and the various water boards are in charge of the Dam. Everyone's at fault. Then again, we were supposed to be in a drought!

Don't be that guy.

It's pointed out that they have money in their state budget to raise another dam in the state. So, if they're responsible for that one, why not this one? I do know their social programs budget far exceeds their infrastructure budget, which is bullshit, but a conversation for elsewhere.
Then again, we were supposed to be in a drought!
It's all Bush's fault.

No, seriously, I have no clue what that was supposed to mean.
Did you have a stroke?

He was pretty much saying "Lighten up, Francis."

Kind of.
He can lay it out more if he wasn't to, I don't want to.

Also there was a pic on my facebook earlier about how "What, no money for infrastructure? Should have given less money to illegals." Now I can't find the pic, I'd post it here.
edit - past perfect tense is hard

No, I think I get it now.
1) California says they'd be better off without Uncle Sam.
2) Uncle Sam ignores this and continues to take California's money away.
3) California has to ask Uncle Sam to give back some of the money it took so they can fix the broken dam before someone gets hurt.
4) *laughter*

Dude has a two bedroom HOUSE for 3k a month. Rent controlled. Fuck off, guy, that's practically stealing. And you're paying way less taxes with your dependents. He's probably pulling down 7k or so a month with SF/CA taxes and maxing his 401k.
You want to live here, make that Twitter money with the shortest possible commute, and still raise your family? Cut down on whatever you or your wife is doing that makes you not able to afford it. 4k a month in non-rent money is a lot.
(spoken like a DINK living the childless life, right?)
