The rootkit thing was just part of it. What they did to star wars galaxies was the drop of the other shoe.

Ha. We played SWG for a few months but quit it about a year before the big, strange change.

Yeah, all the parts that were done well and interesting got stripped out.

I've heard similar complaints from most men a couple years after marriage.
Diogenes of Sinope: "It is not that I am mad, it is only that my head is different from yours."
Arnold Judas Rimmer, BSC, SSC: "Better dead than smeg."

That is often the case. But on the flip side, men would never accomplish things like Gordo's finishing out his basement otherwise.

Given this conclusion, I would strongly recommend you never trust any consumer advice that guy gives you. On anything. Ever.

I had an Apple TV. It was without exception the single slowest and worst piece of computerized hardware I have owned this century. Old flip phones have faster processing than that piece of shit. The hardware specs for the Apple TV aren't so awful, but the OS laid on there is slower and buggier than Windows ME.

Just ... no.

The device appears to have instant wake. I turned it on last night after not using it from the day before, and bam - instantly up.

My wife and I were looking for a "new show" to watch. We went through a list, and she picked a few to explore. I then just went to pirate bay and started looking for torrents.

Turns out, of the 6 shows she picked, 4 were already on Amazon Prime. Yay!

We've started watching the X Files (she's never seen it before). Her: "This is like an early 90s period piece" (Hair styles, clothes, limited cell phones, cars, etc).

Damn Gillian and David were young 21 years ago.

On sale for $69 today.

I bought an extra one for travel. Using it with Plex, we can get our stuff anywhere.

My family was impressed last time we were at Disney when I hooked the HDMI cable from laptop to hotel TV and we could watch Netflix.

I keep their expectations of me low.

I do that for vacations. I use Plex to connect to the home server to watch stuff.

The Amazon Fire TV is just a more portable version to take with us instead of my 10lb laptop.

Fire TV + Year of Prime for $128

That's $30 off the Fire TV, and $40 off the year of Prime.

Pretty cool, doesn't have Vudu because they are a competitor. Nice.

GORDON wrote:This thing won't do Vudu, according to the reviews. I have a lot of shit on Vudu. Also does not work as a media player. Also, I would bet a dollar this device does not have more services than does the BD player I have.

As of now, not worth the $100 price tag because it merely doubles up the tech I already have 4 times over. The voice activation is new, but I have never wished I had it.
Ha, I already knew that and forgot.

I paid $30.

Took the Fire Stick to a hotel for the first time, worked fine. It was a Hilton, though, so their lowest-tier "free" wifi was still good enough. I was able to access the hotels "accept the terms of wifi service" page on the TV and click accept and enter my name and room number and stuff. No problems.
