Fixed with latest update. Still loads links from google news 100x slower than Chrome and 50x slower than IE.

I haven't had Firefox memory leak problems for about a decade. Out of curiosity, do you guys use the adblocker plugin for Firefox? My wife wasn't and her shit would always load slow, then I loaded adblocker and shit sped right up.

It does eat RAM like a mother fucker.

And how the hell do I have 85 Chrome processes running? I mean, I keep a lot of tabs open, but it can't be more than 30.

Check how many it opens with a single new browser window, then check the growth as you open new tabs. It's insane.

Chrome: Eat memory
IE: MS
FF: Close browser = crash

Wtf.

Yeah, I think every instance of java or flash in a page gets a new chrome.exe wrapper around it in the task manager. As well as each of the extensions you may have enabled.

Well, I guess I can see those benefits.

Guess I'm glad my laptop has 32GB of RAM.

I guess it's a good way to keep bad code from crashing the whole browser and limit the impact of rogue processes. But I'm guessing the RAM suck comes from the extra overhead involved in separating out all those processes like that.

Desktop doesn't have Flash installed. Chrome flies.

Flash is baked into Chrome, right?

So I misspoke. Chrome on my desktop doesn't have Flash enabled.
Enable or disable Adobe Flash Player

Type chrome:plugins in the address bar to open the Plug-ins page.
On the Plug-ins page that appears, find the "Flash" listing. To enable Adobe Flash Player, click the Enable link under its name. To disable Adobe Flash Player completely, click the Disable link under its name.
