Not familiar with ITX though. Looks really small. Could be cool. Not sure if you could put a video card in that PCIe slot either. I'll let you do the research to see if this would work for you.
OH, and when you add it to your cart, you'll see that it also comes with 8GB RAM.

It occurred to me to build a PC into the wall of my basement. I could do that.TPRJones wrote:Case? If you're building a cheapo why does it need a case? Just nail the parts to a small square of particleboard and call it done.GORDON wrote:...I still need a power supply, case, and monitor...

Bah. Go straight liquid cooling and pipe the outflow to your hot water heater.TPRJones wrote:The only downside would be the fan noise.
Better add headphones to the build.

I tried convincing Cake once to use the Michigan winter as a heat sink for a water cooled rig... run the pips outside. He didn't have the balls to do it.Malcolm wrote:Bah. ITX is a very very very small form factor. Smaller than Micro ATX even. I ran a Micro ATX for about 4 years, and when it came time to beef it up things just did not fit anymore. If you're trying to build him a computer that he can build upon over the years, I would NOT recommend the ITX form factor, and I'd steer clear of the Micro ATX even. Stick to standard ATX, leaves you plenty of room for expansion in the future, not really that big. I built the Micro ATX with the intentions of LAN parties every weekend. . . . . That rig left the house maybe once a year if that. Not worth the extra money you pay to downscale important parts (Ex: Mobo, PSU, GPU. . . )
Screw that SSD in the $1,200 build, instead put that towards an i7! SSD's die too quickly, not worth the $$$ in my opinion.TheCatt wrote:This might be relevant.
Here is yet another bundle deal you can ignore until it's too late.

Newegg always denies my credit cards the first time I try. We'll see.

Me and the kid built it today. The video card doesn't require extra power... I am a little concerned about that. Haven't installed the OS to test it all, yet. He thinks it is the new server, not his own Xmas present, so I'll have to finish it off while he is in school.
