Admittedly, because I'm only using SSDs, I only have 2TB of storage on my laptop

I have a 200GB SSD as my main system drive, and a 1TB HDD that is dedicated as the install location for Steam and other games. This setup seems to work best for me.

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a Hybrid drive, those are complete shit.

We tried them at work, and they are complete fail.

Just ordered this

To replace this

Plugging into this

Glad I got a mobo that could handle PCIe speeds that I couldn't afford back then in a video card. I am jumping 2 generations of card and an entire specification improvement, for less than $250 (after rebate).

My LOL ping dropped from 120 to 85 with the Win7 reinstall. I wonder if that is coincidence or if I had some shitware on my system somewhere. Will have to look at my ping again tonight when I fire it up.

If I have a mobo that has 3.0Gb/s SATA ports, is it worth betting a WD Black HD that has 6GB/s speed? newegg doesn't have any Black at 3.

Ah. Sometimes their whittle-it-down algorithms return different results.

Don't need one that huge, though. This is the wife's PC I am thinking about speeding up a little. Right now it has a WD Caviar drive (IIRC) and it is slow as hell. Her mobo only has SATA 2.

Pardon my ignorance, but what could I do with one of these?

I have never had any opportunity to play with a rack-mounted server. Could I put it on my rack, put in a couple hard drives, load up Windows Home Server 20xx and just use it? Is there a catch, some reason why it would not work for me, personally?

Looking at the pic, I'm not sure I even see a monitor port. I think I see a couple USBs. How do you even install an OS on one of these?

edit - found another site with a rear view, there's all the ports.

It's just a PC in a fancy case and a fancy name. I doubt you'll have driver issues with Windows Home Server.
