450 minutes per line and they're all shared.

Thus, if Bob uses 5 of his 450 minutes, but Frank uses 800 there are no additional charges because Frank is using the surplus from Bob's.

How much $ for the voice part?

Or did that $37 include voice and data?

Well, it sounds like Bob is getting screwed.

You better take care of Bob before he gets fed up and takes a better offer elsewhere.

They come tomorrow at 10am.

Current quote:
$35/user; 10k minutes
$30/user - Smartphone data plan
$42/user - PDA data plan

I told them what I thought of their quote.

Had a meeting with Verizon Tuesday. They know we're shopping with AT&T. They know we're unhappy with Verizon's past service and how their attitude always seems to be very "arrogant". They also have a brand new rep on our account.

She came out alone. No tech rep. No sales manager. She knew about the meeting and all the details weeks prior, yet called me the day before to ask for the numbers I'd already given her. The pricing she brought was exactly what we pay now.

I meet with AT&T today. I have a hunch we'll be switching.

I also learning a bit of info about the cell phone business. Apparently, the sales person only cares about activation. That's what their job performance and pay is based on, the number of activations they pull in. Thus, after you activate, they don't care about you anymore.

Keep that tidbit in mind. It's been suggested that the Verizon sales rep might actually want to lose us, only to pitch us a much better deal later...

Yeah, the AT&T people came in today and were talking about their post-sales service. I don't believe them. I've never known a salesperson with great post-sales service, cuz they're never incented to do it.

They're going to "run it up the ladder" to see what they can do. They made their own used-car salesman joke before I could.

They're offering us 7% off their list rates for voice. One guy said that you have to be bigger to get more % off. He stated that Home Depot got 20% off, and state government got 15%. We'll see what they come back with tonight.

I guess being only 25 people doesn't help.

I was offered 8%, but the Sales manager says that she is going to try for 2-3% more.

Yeah, the one thing they do seem to have a lot of flexibility on is up front credits, discounts on phones, etc. We asked our guy for a credit towards the entire cost, further reductions on the prices of the phones (AT&T 8525 was $200, RAZR V9 $200, Treo 750 $250, AT&T Tilt $400), and anything else they could do.

Oh, they offered $50 credit towards each users' purchase of accessories as well, which should cover a car charger and holder for each person.

How many people do you have for the laptop wireless cards? Our people quoted $56 for unlimited on laptop. I said that seemed excessive based on Sprint/Verizon. He said Sprint sucks. :)

40 cards at $55.19 monthly, so far...they're still working on prices.

So not the $37 you mentioned earlier?
For AT&T UNLIMITED Data service we're being quoted $37.00. (includes air cards).

It's still $37 on the PDAs.

$59.99 on the air cards...a fact that was left out of their first quote. They've discounted it down to $55.18 or whatever the change is...

Ah... OK, our PDA plan quote was $37.19... down from $40.

Seems strange to me that the discounts are so small.

Well, in their defense, if VoIP and wireless keeps growing as fast as it has, who will need a cell phone in 15 years? They're getting as much profit as they can right now.

So AT&T didnt work in my house as of December (last time I tried.... my acct was switched to Alltel at work), so the sales rep gave me his own phone to try out for the weekend.

Coming down a major street, I've got 4 bars, I turned onto my street, and go less than 600 feet, and have 0 bars. I tell him this, and he's stunned - since Sprint/Alltel each work great and he spent 30 minutes disparaging their networks.

He says he checked into it and that it's a "known issue" despite their map saying I have the 2nd best level of coverage at my house. He then says they plan to build a tower in 2008, but that may change depending on budget, and that I could install a $300+ repeater. I told him he could offer me one for free, or lend me one.

We got back to them and said we wanted the following:
- 1 month free
- 8% off all plans
- $50 credit per line
- Free repeater/whatever to make it work at my house
- More $ off the phones ($100-150 cheaper than the prices they had for the "2-year, rebates, etc, etc" web prices)
