Important note: You must be HOLDING the gnome to get the achievement. Dammit.

In HL2:E2?

In L4D2.
In HL2:Ep2, you put it into that rocket towards the end of the episode.

Really? So, if a team went through that mess together only the one holding the gnome at the end gets the credit?
Seems a bit harsh.

That would be harsh, so thankfully, it's not true.
Someone has to be holding the gnome and all four players will get credit. I had it sitting on the floor of the helicopter when the copter took off. I had set it down to shoot at a tank who was pummeling another survivor.

Anyone ever solo the game? I'm having trouble on the level where you have to walk the roller coaster. My team keeps dieing before we're done.

That spot is where I finally decided that the retarded bots which are your teammates just don't cut it. Jacking up the difficulty level drives the point home more.

Yes, you've got to just move. In fact, I remember running my ass off. Your teammates will catch up. If you try moving slowly or try to clear the level before moving forward you'll be overrun. The zombies never stop coming.
I think I ran up the first hill, around the curve and then down a hill. Up the next hill and a wave hits. Fight them off and get around the curve. Before going down the next hill, clean it out a bit. Go down and up the next hill. This is the hardest part. You'll hit that tunnel and then down the big hill to the end. At that point, you can set your gnome down and help whomever needs help. You can even go back for them. Just make a note of where the gnome is, and THIS IS IMPORTANT: Don't leave the gnome where it can be knocked off the platform or you're going to be fucked.
It's tough, but possible. Set the difficulty to easy if you have to because you get the achievement no matter what difficulty you're on.
I had a lot of problems there, and at the end of the next level, particularly the sprint through the never ending army of zombies.
Oh, and use the gnome as a weapon as much as possible.
And if you're not carrying the gnome, you need to lower the difficulty. There's no other reason you should be having trouble and going through these games on the higher difficulty is impossible.

That did it. Before I was trying to clear the hoards before moving on. This time I just ran and rarely looked back, and I made it no problem, first try.

I hate taking out a level in a shooter and not ramping the difficulty up to the most obscenely, violently difficult level. It always seems like a hollow victory if you beat a junior version.

I don't suppose I could talk anyone into some L4D2 at some point in the future, like post-BL2? I've yet to run through that with 3 other people using what I'd call "coordinated teamwork."

I'm up for it sometime. Not that I'm going to be able to bring to it what you would call "coordinated teamwork." :p

Back to School.
BTW, seems like we have all we need and then some to play. I'll be loading the game up again after BL2, and we'll schedule some nights...

Hell, if we can get eight, we can do 4v4 and switch off between humans and zombies.

I'd be even more interested in versus. It's a lot more fun than just running the campaign.

Playing from the zombie side always seemed more fun than the survivors. I actually have to pick the game up, but it ought to be cheap by now.
