I had Ingress installed for about a month, and would pull it out from time to time when in a new place.

But I never really had time to devote to being successful at it, and the constant message alerts "there's a thing near, holy shit!" got really annoying.

Never heard of Ingress.

Elements of this PGo I've seen elsewhere. So far, it's cute, but not knocking my socks off. I see it being uninstalled from my phone sooner rather than later. I was never big into Pokemon in the first place, hell I never played it.

However, I could see other games than are in my wheelhouse using this technology and I'll be interested.

I may put it on my kid's phone.

Of course, he's 10 and has plenty of free time. :-D

I caught a lot yesterday while my wife was driving me home from work (my car is in the shop). I also caught 7 while walking my dog. My kids caught some when we were grocery shopping. And that sums up my entire experience so far...

You do realize it's 2016, yes?

The company (Niantic) that made this game made Ingress first. It was around for about 4 years (maybe still around?) The company was part of Google, and got spun off last year.

This is going to be a new trend in gaming. Eventually, it's going to be done by "adult" games.
Goddamnit, no. I do not look forward to more people walking around aimlessly without paying attention.

Leisher, once you hit level 5 you can battle.

I'm out of the capture things again. Now I'm insanely bored. I'm not going to spend a dime on this game, nor am I going to go out of my way to find zones for free ones. (There is one right outside my office that gave me three today.)

I'm incubating an egg. What's inside will determine how long the app stays on my phone.

It's just going to be a pokemon. How many km is it?

There are tons of pokestops (zones for free ones) around me. I can get 10 stops a day without even trying. Once, when I went to Goodwill, I let my youngest daughter have the phone and she tried to capture some animal there, and then I suddenly had 0 capture balls. I'm pretty sure she used about 40.

5km egg. It says I've gone 0km so far... If it doesn't register any miles this weekend when I mow my lawn, I'm out.

I have 1 pokestop across the street. First time I hit it, I got three capture balls and the egg. This morning I purposely drove my car to it before crossing the road to the office and got three more capture balls. No other pokestops near my office or home.

We got a pokestop playground across the street, my wife says she can't hit it from in our apartment, but just walking out the front door to the curb will do it.

I saw a screen shot of this little rat-like pokemon in some dude's gym. I thought that was cute. It was a gym rat.

Also Leisher's workplace SHOULD be set up with some really cool spawns (or however it works) since he is surrounded by giant tanks of acid.

Driving around at lunch I received 35 capture balls and another 5km egg. The college across the street has a bunch of Pokestops, but I don't see myself doing that daily. Funny part was the other cars going to the exact spots I was heading or had just been.

I wish they had added some cool ones here at the office. How cool do you think the Pokemon are in Chernobyl?

Can I start a gym? If so, how?

How can one get an area registered for a Pokestop? Possible? I mean, someone had to get all these pictures, right?

I've seen gyms side by side in neighborhoods and seem to be at houses. Other areas have none at all.

At golf league last night two of the cart guys were driving around the course with their phones out. I caught up to them later, and sure enough, Pokemon Go. My golf partner is the superintendent at a local golf course and he says they've already put up signs prohibiting Pokemon Go. He said they had people just randomly walking on the course in front of people trying to golf.

You cannot start a gym, to the best of my knowledge. They are supposed to be "significant" things, like monuments, or gazebos, etc. I've never seen one at a house.

The pokestop pictures, I assume, come from Google Maps, since Google still owns a significant part of this company.

Pokestops, and where they come from
