Ah! I kept looking at the Wiki thinking "Where the hell is the "play" or "download" link?

Ok, I'll dig up the email tonight and see if I can get in.

I played for about an hour, got to #8 in the "world"

Then Gordon logged in.

I joined the American colonies. We're at war with the Mongols, so I sent some troops.

Also building a lot of food.

The game disconnects a lot. I'm much more productive at food than production, so I make food, sell it at the market, to buy my production. So far production/food are the same price in market.

I made it to #4, and was briefly the King of America. Now I'm just a prince.

I had a back spams yesterday morning, so I spent a part of the day doped up and playing this game.

I found out how to improve my city layout, but also found out that the way to make food/production (the most desired resources int he game) is to just sit there and click little popups. Doing that vastly outperformed my normal production. So there's a heavy bias towards people with nothing better to do than sit and watch the screen.

I was king of America most of yesterday. Kings apparently get more votes than others for policy (5) but I'm not sure what else it lets me do. I think I can propose invading people.

Hey Mr. King of America, how about some tips for your Union Jack friends?

Make whatever is the most expensive in the market, then sell it and buy what you want.
I only make food and production right now, I buy all my science.
1) People are happiest (and most productive) when living in/near trees/water.
2) People are also happiest living next to people with the same job.
3) Cluster things together for best productivity.
4) Visit my city to see how it's laid out.
5) Buy the luxury goods (incense, etc) below 100, sell above 150. (I've seen them as low as 45, as high as 250).
6) One production enhancement building seems to be the way to go (I have 1 for food, 1 for production)

Don't get too big. My people were more productive at 7 than they are at 8 cuz of population unhappiness.

I'm the King of England!

How do I get folks to move in? I'd like to move my merchants closer to the market, and change their homes to workers, but nobody will move into the house I built next to the market.

So... The American Colonies had a policy of "income tax" which increases merchants' gold gathering by 50%, in exchange for -1 happiness.

Well, the problem is that the production/food/science were all trading at 10x the value of gold, and happiness increases the production of those items.

So another player and I who realized this were like "Um WTF? Why are we doing something dumb?" and another player came back with "You cannot convince me that trickle down economics are good, no matter what." And I'm like "Uh, wtf does that have to do with this game?" Another player then tried to tell me that the taxes had led to us winning every era so far. I replied back that it actually hampered us, since we could sell the other crap for gold, and be even further ahead. Another player then replied "Well, we're still winning, so it doesn't matter."

It turns out at least 4 or 5 of these players know each other and joined together, and are liberal fucking idiots.

I was ready to start America 2.0.

But then, somehow, we managed to win the repeal vote thanks to other players in the alliance, by like a vote or two.

SteveG is part of America now, I think I saw.

Next time you're on... Visit my town, hover over one of my science houses, then click the big text bar that says something about a dowry on it.

You'll get a ton of science.

Not really enjoying this game. Not sure how to play better, no one answers questions in-game, and whenever I try to play one of the minigames (best farmer, etc), "MarcC" is always there winning by a mile. He must be at his computer 23 hours a day.

I think I don't enjoy these social-network games where you need to work with other people who almost always suck in one way or another.

I was just about to log into it and thinking that it's not a lot of fun.

I'm actually having more fun with the mini-games.
