Doesn't seem to be a ton of sadness for them outside their own ranks.

Parody accounts must label themselves a parody. Well, impersonation accounts. Waiting to see what he does for actual parody accounts like Babylon Bee, Titania McGrath, etc.

He banned Sarah Silverman for changing her name to Elon Musk and putting out a satirical tweet. What a douche.

I heard it was Kathy Griffin.... which I am ok with on twitter because for at least 15 years the only time she's gotten attention is from making a stupid choice.

I also heard it was Kathy Griffin, who was trending on Twitter for it last night. As an aside, it amazes me that she's considered a celebrity. I get that she did some mediocre standup decades ago and had a bit part on...was it Newsradio?...but seriously, what talent does she have? I think the annoying woman who doesn't listen to anyone else that she played on Seinfeld was the real her.
That being said, I do not agree with Musk here. I like putting out a policy about impersonations needing to be clear, but a one strike and you're out forever punishment seems a bit harsh. Although, if she saw the policy then did what she did, this is 100% on her, not him. She's an attention whore and will do anything for another stint in the spotlight.
I have been enjoying the blatant hypocrisy regarding her banning and the reaction to Musk taking over Twitter period. For years people were told that Twitter wasn't the government and the 1st amendment didn't apply. For years left leaning rejoiced as conservative voices were silenced and banned for little to no reason. For years critics of Twitter's biased moderation were told that if they don't like it to go start their own. Now the shoe is on the other foot and those folks who had the power previously can't handle it. It's been particularly telling how outspoken a certain party has been about Musk's takeover and calling it "dangerous for democracy" considering their supporters used to control it and stifled dissenting opinions and harmful news stories.
Saw this and I would expect a more cautious approach from someone with Elon's success. But to be fair to him, this is the first social media company he has taken over. This takeover is also under the microscope with people on both sides of the aisle very publicly attributing every action on the site itself to him. To the non-technical mind, he took over and BAM! all the tech is his and everything changed that second. To those of us with brains, shit takes time. Features you see now have been in place or been in development for a long time.

Meh. He's banning people who are throwing tantrums over a thing that doesn't matter. He paid the $44B, he can do whatever he wants. I don't feel like he's banning "good guys."

"Elon did this, Elon banned them..." like the guy is so bored he's just sitting around doing all this microcosm shit personally.
I'm picturing he made a programmer write him an app on day one that would show twitter users like tinder. If he swipes right, they stay. If he swipes eft, they're banned. Then he spends an hour on the toilet swiping left and right.
Because he's got nothing better to do with his time.
I totally expected him to clean house on day 1.... you can't rail that the new boss is a nazi, then force him to buy you anyway, and not expect repercussions. You're begging for consequences. They got exactly what they asked for, and fuck every one of them if they regret it now.

It was both! Maybe Sarah did it second. The policy is dumb.

Really? Nothing about this guy is cautious. He was months away from bankruptcy with Tesla, he posts shitty /r/iam14andthisisdeep tweets all the time.

Because he shat all over it, then said it was the woke mob's fault. "Twitter is garbage," but once anyone else says it, it's their fault.

Again, if the policy was already out, it's on her. A dumb policy? Like I said, the punishment is for certain. However, this reeks of two women desperate for attention...and they both are...trying to stay relevant.

Well, he's the richest man in the world so he's doing something right. Even if his dad was a millionaire, Elon has taken that wealth to a whole new level.
Honestly, he needs a good right hand man (or woman) to keep him even keeled. Someone smart and wise that he trusts whose job is NOT to stop Elon from anything, but rather to provide advice, skepticism, and clarity to his decisions. I'm guessing he does not have such a person in his life because everyone around him is probably terrified of being fired.
Oh, and nobody criticizing Elon is innocent of their own hypocrisy. I can and will argue their hypocrisy and mistakes are far larger than his, in terms of, the Twitter purchase/free speech/yada yada yada.

BTW, I was just given a real world example of why Elon is right about stopping the impersonation stuff.
A user here at my company, let's say it's called "mycompany", was in full belief that an email he received from "
account@mycompany.com <
booking@zionnoiz.org>" with an Excel spreadsheet attached called "Paymeny" from "Accounts/Finance Dept", neither being the actual name of the Accounting department here, was a legit email.
I cannot tell you how many times people read that first name and then NEVER look to see what email address it is from.
Do you want to stop misinformation? Stop letting people fool the careless.

I agree. The only thing I would point out/criticize is that's what the blue checkmarks USED to do. If the Blue Checkmark said Lebron James, you knew it was Lebron James. Going forward the name Lebran James can have a blue checkmark and people will be fooled.
