Supreme Commander - post-release discussion.
500
The game I won never made it past 150 prolly. We kept him contained to his little corner. Then my tech 3 units lead the charge and the two adaptives followed right behind. It was as if we were on voice comms and they new what to do. We over took his base and killed him with <75 units total. Maybe even <50.
One thing I did differently that game though was tried a wider range of units. And that made a BIG difference with the small little fights. I always had my favorite units I'd favor. I was trying some others and a totally different mix. Ended up working really well.
But again, I think the biggest thing that contributed to the win was my adaptive allies actually playing a good game.

I won second game in a row with two adaptive. Kept him cornered for much of the game. He took one of them out pretty early. Was able to ramp up my production enough to not be threatened though. The other AI pulled his own weight though. I did see one idle tech 4 unit in his base. I THINK I could have killed it and still not have had heavy losses. But, don't know for sure. I've never actually fought that particular unit. I had a tech 4 rolling toward his base, but, the ground troops finished the job before it scored it's first kill. I played for about 45 minutes and never had more than 200 units. I kept waiting for a high level artillary beating, but it never came. But then, he never really made it out of his corner. He had the bottom area for a minute. But right after he built up a small base, my ramping efforts started paying off and was able to push him out and keep him out for the rest of the game. So, even though he cheats, he really wouldn't have had the resources for one. If I beat him a third time in a row with two adaptive, I'm calling it good enough and moving on to normal.
Played 2 games last night with a single AI_Adaptive ally.
First game was an air unit rush. I had on lvl 1 AA built early, but as soon as I had 20 fighters circling my base I built 4 more immediately. They kept coming and coming. By the end I had an additional 4 or so lvlel 2 AA, but they just couldn't keep up. Near the end I noticed my lvl 1's had over 200 kills each. But then the lvl 3 bombers started coming before I even had lvl3 engineers (to build lvl 3 AA turrets), and that was the end. My AI survived to the end... ALX was focused on me.
Second game, right as I was getting to lvl 3 a flying lvl 4 took out my ally, then me. The end. I had been keeping a steady stream of ground units out of my base up to that point.

Damn near just won.
Long fight, kicking the crap out of each other.
I had pushed him back all except the two spawn points nearest to him, his original, and the point to his north.I had upgraded my commander to have the tactical nuke, and it was screwing him up. Only problem is, it has a range of barely half the map... so I needed to move my commander up.
So, well shielded with a ton of units and TWO fatboys, I moved up, nuking one base afer another. I got close enough to fire 3 nukes at his main base, where his commander should be... nothing. Must have nuke defense. UH OH... ENEMY FATBOY OUT OF THE NORTH, ADVANCING ON MY COMMANDER. Air force took it out with a loss of half my defense force, and one fatboy.
I was positioning myself to take out his last secondary base, when all of a sudden 6 level 3 bombers are all over my commander, and my ground troops are getting hit with multiple level 3 artillery. And that was it.
Suck. So close.
