Can that be nutshelled into "everyone is special" liberalism?

Well, Texas is about to make it worse. Currently we are paid by the state for students on a "butts in seats" per class basis. We teach them, we get funding. The more we teach, the more the funding.

Starting in about a year it will change over to pay "per diploma" per class. We'll get our funding based on how many students complete 15 hours, more if they complete 30 hours, more again for 45 hours, and the full pay-out once the graduate. If they don't graduate, we don't get funded for the expense of having taught them. Everyone swears up and down that this will not effect quality, but I for one know that's bullshit.

Things would probably be better if it was just assumed that 5-10% are unteachable, and pay accordingly. The world does indeed need ditch diggers, too.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to note that fact that not everyone should be in college. That's considered racist. Unless they are white, because then it would be misogyny. Unless they are white men, in which case go right ahead.

Someone on NPR said something close to "We simply can't have half of America performing below average." Which, I've heard that in jest before, but never as an actual battle cry.

I don't remember the actual statement, but his point was that too many Americans are performing below average.
