You can place beds in houses to help restore labor points, place unique crafting stations in the house, place chests for storage, and an auctioneer/warehouse manager whatever that is, and a recall location. so there is uses for the actual house.

I just don't get this game.

Exactly what is it, you do here?

That made me laugh twice.

Once when I read it, and again when I realized it's not a horrible question.

I believe they stated the idea was to set your own goals, UO style. But it's true - no in game goals + I finished the quest line last closed beta (with 50 Gildar).

I understand there will be large scale territory pvp on the nothern continent at some point. Shadowbane style. But that part of the world won't even be open at launch.

+ Shadowbane sucked because you couldn't loot people

Ok, houses appear to be instanced farming. In other words, you farm there and no one can bother you. You quest, and can not be bothered. No pvp or loot stealing. You craft items and put it on a global auction, so no player run markets. Current PVP is on ships on the water. Loot is cargo the ships may have been carrying. Do you lose your ship if it sinks? Can the ship be stolen if they kill everyone on board? There will be a pvp zone on land, at some point, like Shadowbane did, which sucked.

So, this seems like WoW with houses and farming. How far off am I?

Its hard to answer all of the questions you have. None of us really got into the PvP portion of the game yet as it doesn't even really start until level 30. All i can say is do a little research for yourself and maybe you will find the answers you're looking for.

Try looking at the Reddit page:
http://www.reddit.com/r/archeage/

Or the official forums:
http://forums.archeagegame.com/forumdi....-Forums

A decent begginers guide i found:
http://archeaegis.com/getting-started-guide-updated/

Or just play the game when you can and see for yourself. Just to give it a fair shot though, you need to play more than just the first 10 levels. If you have preconceived notions of what it will be then you will not like the game. If you're looking for UO, then i'd say move along because nothing is as good as that for you guys and never will be.

I can say that i'm pretty sure that F2P will work out for a little while for most of us. But as we get further into it the labor points gains for a F2P player are going to be limiting. So if you think that is enough to make it P2W then don't play it. I know that i enjoyed the time with the game even though i played mostly solo in a game meant for teamwork.

I know that this game is centralized around PvP when you get to endgame. I've read it on the forums and heard many streamers say the same thing. They say if your not into the PvP then just turn away now. So this gives me hope. I can only play it out and see what this game really has to offer and make my decision at that point.

I can't really be concerened with trying to get others on this forum to like the game. We have tried that with many other games and most of the time people are just haters and look for reasons to hate on a game. LOL was the only game that got anyone to play together for an extended period and that will prolly be the last.

LoL sucks qtiyd

But seriously, I agree that Archeage seems to have some issues, but the farmville carebears will be there, and the pirates will be there. Add in a sandboxy system and require the two to interact to make money and boom, what is that MMO term about players making their own stories?

While I absolutely agree with that sentiment, it's natural for folks who had an amazing experience with a game to compare other games in that genre to it, and expect a certain standard.

If we all went to play DOTA2 right now, we'd all inevitably compare things negatively to what we got used to in LoL. You included.

Sure there are folks who simply hate anything new and don't give things a chance, but I think the fact that he has downloaded the game and is asking questions here shows a willingness to give it a chance.

Let the man ask his questions especially since they're not absolutely baseless.

What date does this launch again? This game didn't blow my skirt up in beta, but I'm more than willing to give it another shot. I'll be on that night.

Unknown forces are pushing me to sperg on this game. I packed up my office today for the week and a half long remodeling effort.

Working from home rest of the week. I don't think I'm gonna do anything crazy this weekend, But I think I can rush a large farm pretty well.

So is your plan to get a farm first? are you talking about the farmhouse or just a farm? or just the small house?

I think i'll save my Gilda stars and skip the early house. Instead i'll do two characters, one after the other to level 10. Get small farms, place them, and then get both characters into large farms(will take a while). Will block off enough for the large farmhouse and have that be the eventual goal.

Maybe i'll have to use the second guy's 15 Gilda and place the basic scaffolding if things start getting cramped? Still not sure.

The "Blighter" class was recommended to me by the internet hivemind for what I was looking for.

Battlerage (warrior base)
Shadowplay (used on my last character and was my fav, lots of jumping skills + mobility w/ stealth)
Defense (full of + health and stuns)

No healing or archery, but I'll deal.

Anyone have any recommended party make up? Healers, CC, ranged, tank, etc.

Posted: Thu Sep 11, 2014 6:36 pm

Probably - I guess I just chose a defensive tank? Figure the usual MMO party rules apply.

The NPCs were so easy I never needed another dude. Will be interesting to see what we learn @ 30 when we have to level as a group in the pvp zones.

I guess this counts as a spoilers so i'll tag it
"Secret" Intel I found on the beta forums These are the ingredients for trade missions. It's kind of off, like trimmed meat gets made even easier now, but those resource locations are nice.

Point seems to be the crafting materials are out in the world anyway, so you can do the trade quests without a farm, possibly quickly.

Ok. Wait. You don't play with other people until level 30?!

No, but you are in Trammel. They aren't a threat. In the pvp zones anyone in either faction can get you.
