Round 3 was a repeat of round 1. Holding my own, and then a flying experimental took me out.

So, ALX in lower left, you in upper right, and meat shields on the two points closest to him?
That's how I've started playing that map.

Depends on what I'm doing. Sometimes I put a normal IA in your spot (cause that's about how good you are!) and run from my normal spot. Other times I take your spot and put two AIs down below to just try to win the game like that.
Just for fun, I put two ALXs in opposite corners then suicided myself. Then crancked the speed up to +10. They fought for about 45-50 minutes each game (did it twice). In both games, they had level 4 units (fatboy and GC) built at <20 minutes. The GC guy had 5 of them built. Never moved them. They acted as base defense only. The other AI didn't use any of his 3 FBs the first game. Second game, he'd use half of them.
It sucks that the AI won't use the level 4s it builds.

I need my spot up there in the corner. I have build-macros built for that spot. I can put 20 buildings in the build-queue, exactly where I want them, with, literally, 3 clicks of the mouse.

BUT..... the ALX was playing weird. Barely got out of level 1 tech... I only saw 1 tech 2 factory out of 10. One of my AI allies even survived to the end.
I'm calling this one a fluke.

I'd call beating the ALX with two normal a fluke as well. I've watched too many ALX games where the ALX doesn't use all of it's assets. If you beat the ALX when they've got multiple tech 4 units laying around. . . it shouldn't count. He was obviously taking it easy on you.
Even that time we beat him. He had 3 fat boys just sitting there. I hit them with artillary and took them out. They should have been rolling up the map at us.
Not saying you suck. . . Saying the ALX (even others, like when they just stand there and don't do anything) is broken. Does it really count as a win when he rushes his commander out of his well fortified base to take on a small force you have heading his way (Which he did that one time we played)?
It will be hard to say when the ALX is REALLY being beaten, because you never really know when he's bringing his "A" game.

Dude.
Talk your trash when you finish a game with more points than me (prior to your artillery hitting his commander). (I figure I may not be able to talk that particular trash for long, so I am enjoying it while I can)
The 2-normals game, they both went down within about 10 minutes, and within seconds of each other. And I had lvl 3 bad guys in my base before I pushed them back. They took out 2 of my 8 factories, one a lvl 3 that had just finally upgraded. Then I built back up. And I took out a lvl4 artillery within seconds of its being built (otherwise I would have lost... I was lucky to accidentally spot it JUST as it started firing). And I won the game without my own lvl 4's being ready yet.
As far as his LVL4's hanging out in his base, I mostly agree with you. I allow it to balance, however, since his resource production is at least twice as fast as everyone elses... this is observable when watching the scores early in the game. His core is twice as high as everyone elses within seconds. By mid game his score is 10x my score. And I noted before his units auto-heal if you don't kill them fast. And I have watched fully built factories pop out out of nothing. He cheats, hard. I don't really feel slighted if he doesn't bring out some level 4 units that he cheat-rushed to completion and uses them to guard his base.

Oh, I keep meaning to say this... buildings count toward your unit limit. I hit my limit a lot in these skirmishes,,, I have it set for 250. It may be what allows me to defeat the ALX... dunno.

Just beat ALX with 2 AI_Easy allies, and that was a slugfefst. Longest game I ever played, I think. Every time I would advance my units, tech 3 gunships come out of nowhere to cut them down. When I move my fighters in to get the gunships, AA is there to kill my fighters.
I almost lost my base twice to bombers... wave after wave.
Lvl 4 fatboys coming at me constantly.
I was finally moving in on his main base after about 3 hours... and if my units didn't kill him, the LVL4 artillery was going to. It fired about 8 shots before one found the enemy commander. But at that point I really was moving in on him in force.
But damn. He earned the "adaptive" name that game. I'm wiped. My score near the end was just over 3 million, his was a little higher.
Next step: a single allied AI...

Your score is higher than mine ONLY after you move into your secondary area and start harvesting resources. I'm limited to a single area to harvest because you put me closer to the enemy! You have twice the land, and therefor, more points.
And since we know the ALX cheats, to say that him not using certain units is a balancing factor of his cheatness is. . . wrong? In other words, we play the ALX for the full on challenge. And if he doesn't bring it, then, it's not really an ALX enemy. I just wish the ALX (or any AI for that matter) wasn't broken. When I beat the ALX enemy, I want to know even though he was cheatin' like a mofo, I still beat him. It sucks when he goes down because he was the idiot version of ALX that we sometimes see.

Just beat the ALX with two adaptives. We pretty much steam rolled him. I didn't see any idle tech 4s in his base, but, we kept him VERY contained. So, I can't speak much on how well the ALX was playing, but I will add that my adaptive allies definately brought their A games. The game went so quick that the ALX only had about 85k points. I was able to keep pace with him with about 60% of his points. I had 65k points. The blue adaptive got the commander kill and ended up with the most points.

Oh, and I confirmed that buildings count against unit max. You start with 1, the commander, and as soon as he starts building something, it goes to 2. Extractors count, etc. It was easy to verify at the beginning since all you are building are buildings.
