Posting the image below is what got Gina Cerano fired, and honestly, says a whole hell of a lot more about the people who fired her and wanted her fired over it.

Incidentally, at the time the star of Mandalorian, what's-his-face, posted the same meme or a similar one with Nazi Germany except it was about the right or conservatives. Nothing happened to him. He also calls Gina a great human being and a friend, yet did nothing to stand up for her. I lost a lot of respect for him at that time.

I do love some Dead Kennendys... but back on topic... there's a pretty big difference between hating someone for their political views and hating them for religion, imho.

That picture didn't happen because of religious hatred though... Hitler and the Nazis ran a campaign of blame against the Jews for the state the country was in post-WWI. The Jews were the scapegoat for everything wrong in the average German's life. Then they passed laws to disarm the Jews.

Honestly, I don't see a difference at all, besides subject matter. It's still hate, and that's not a good thing in any way, shape, or form. (And yes, we're ALL guilty of it, and I mean every human alive.) Whether you're sticking people in ovens, invading their countries, enslaving them, burning them at the stake, cancelling their careers, etc. the justification for doing so being political or religion still boils down to a disagreement about what you believe.

Then the criticism started, the calls for her to be fired and her career destroyed, then the astute comparison to what happens when we start oppressing people, and destroying their lives, over thoughts and ideas.

There is a reason people feel like there's a tuba being blown in their faces about this subject.

I think he's trying to say, "white nationalist" means "a white person who supports their country"?

But here's the problem with that Tommy. Putting "white" at the front of it makes it a very specific and racial term. It implies something very strongly. Why wouldn't people in that camp simply call themselves "Americans"?

Or better yet, if you want to talk about words that have been twisted to mean something else, talk about "patriots". That's a word that could describe anyone with a love of country, but has been dragged through the mud so that it's a negative terms and implies racism.
