Didn't we all expect something more like the latter?

Definitely, but that’s because all the photoshop mockups looked like that, made by randoms on the internet. Looking at it compared to the real thing, and the photoshop version looks too normal, not very Tesla like.
I hope it comes with an option to turn the front lights into a cylon scanner eye.

More like what TV special effects guys in the 80's thought the futuristic El Camino would look like.

Tesla says 200,000 pre-orders. But, unlike the other models, the pre-order is a mere $100, and (like the others) refundable. I pre-ordered a 3 at $1k, then canceled.
It’s less costly to preorder a Cybertruck than it has been to order previous electric vehicles unveiled by Tesla.
For example, to preorder one of Tesla’s forthcoming crossover SUVs, the Model Y, customers had to lay down a heftier $2,500 deposit. In 2016, Tesla took preorders for the Model 3 at $1,000 a pop.

I wish I could read more stories about all the traders who shorted Tesla stock big time and are now in the poor house.

I'd rather buy the Porsche, too. But I'd also rather not pay $150k+... soo... I drive a 13 year old Highlander.

If all other car manufacturers are allowed to be open, why is only Tesla required to be closed?

Because they are in different states?

I thought he was implying they were in the same state? That's what he gets for building a plant in California. I'll bet that knucklehead Ken Jennings would have known better than to build a plant in that state. I mean sure they have higher taxes, but they also always side with the workers and have insane environmental regulations. It's lose-lose-lose. Who wouldn't build there?
