Same skirmish, except I dialed down two of the AI to Normal instead of Hard.
The ALX must do different strategies depending on... I don't know. One game the ALX had a lot of air units, and they steamrolled us.
Another game, the ALX got stomped.
A third game, and it was a long slugfest, and one of my AI: Hard allies was killed, but we still came back and beat the ALX.
So I dunno. Game style seems erratic. Not sure what the "Adaptive" trait is keying off of.

Troy and I tried several times tonight to defeat the ALX. Some rounds we did better than others. The ALX changed strategies just about every game, so it was hard to know what to expect. One game Troy wasn't used to the map yet, and he got rushed by lvl1's and lvl 2's.... once he was down I didn't last long. One game the ALX cheat-built a Level 4 Experimental Artillery, and it took us both out quick. The last game tonight the AI rushed to level 3 air, and a single Level 3 Strat Bomber took me out, then I watched the same plane turn and kill Troy with a single bomb.
If Cake ever gets on, the 3 of us may be able to take him. If you want to practice, the map we play is in the map pack I linked, called desert planet. It is for 6 players, and it is the 10x10 km version. I take upper right, Tryo takes immediately south of me, and the ALX is in lower left. I suggest Cake practice in the position immediately to my left so we have a nice, defensible corner. From my position in the back I was able to not only advance into his area in the north, but also commit troops to Troy's defense in his area. If Cake was there on my left side we'll be rocking. I've gotten quite good at getting 8 factories up quick on this map. I can crank out massive amounts of units within 10 minutes.

Well if no one is going to play, I guess I'll play with myself. On a solo skirmish.
I'll not be playing tomorrow. Another Halloween party. Probably ditto Saturday night. Because I am way popular and people want to party with me.

DAMN near beat an ALX with only 2 adaptive AI allies. Both of my allies were dead, and I had just completed my first mobile factory when a few of his level 3's finally broke into my base and I couldn't move my commander fast enough. The lvl 4 was only done for like five seconds before I died, heh. Had kept the ALX out of my base for about 25 minutes after my last ally died. Had wiped out his secondary bases a few times.

That means he was one of the AIs that decided to leave his multiple level 4s sitting in his base instead of using them. . .
That AI probably has the first one 'built' in the first 30 minutes of the game.

Only 3.
I set some gunships on them once to try to knock them down, but it was ineffectual and they never moved, anyway. I don't really consider this a flaw in the game since the ALX already cheats outrageously in resource and unit production.
I DID, though, destroy one of his flying LVL 4's before it could do any damage. He was building one of those in one of the secondary bases I destroyed.

Damn near beat an ALX with two adaptive AI. I was half way through my level 4 guy when the ALX decided to use his. He took out the first AI, then moved on to me. Up until that point, me and the two AI held most of the map.

I think I would have beaten the ALX just now with 2 AI_Normal allies if the ALX hadn't rushed through to a lvl4 bomber. I managed to keep my two <s>meatshields</s> allies alive for quite a long time... but then they both died within 20 seconds of each other.
