I wonder why they can't do it? It's not that hard to make.
Here's an interesting tidbit: The Stubborn Brothers in Toledo that Gordon mentioned, actually purchased and brought in a NYC water filter. Thus, the water they use to make their dough is the same as the water in NYC. That water has been pointed to by some "experts" as to why NYC pizza is different.
No idea how true this may be, but it's worth discussing.

Imho, it's bullshit. But maybe some 3% of the world can tell a difference.

I've read discussions from people around the country who say they can't get the crust exactly right, without that NYC water. It's the mineral content.

Altoona - Never had it, but American + Velveeta are not cheese.
Still true. Saw something about it today, and wtf - this is why we need laws:

Ha! I came in on top of the image and thought, "Depends on my mood".
However, if I had to pick:
3. Detroit
2. Chicago
1. NY

If I had to pick one to eat, with no other choices, I'd go for NY since that's more of a go to. But Chicago and Detroit are both better, just too heavy to eat often.

Catt is correct, though it was painful to get a decision.
Leisher is just wrong and does not get to choose food in the survival bunker.

Honestly, Chicago and Detroit are the TexMex of pizzas. Is it pizza? Yes, but not really.
Detroit is made up horseshit in an attempt to give themselves culture, aside from murder, after watching Chicago get famous for its pizza. Jet's is the only fast food pizza place serving Detroit style and there's a reason they're few and far between.
Chicago's is a heavy, heavy meal and I'm a fan, but it's not a match for a very good slice of actual pizza. The only place around here that I know of that serves Chicago style is fine. Not great pizza, just fine. I'm thisclose to calling it mid.
The resident Italian has spoken. Now go back to your Frenched fries!!

I like how you used the word "frenched." I always say it like that when I'm being superior to other english speakers. Which is frequently.
Sometimes I refer to them, "And get me a side of frenched fried potatoes, please.'

Heard it somewhere once. Either Letterkenny or a stand up comedian. I liked it.

I also often say "hamburger sandwich."
