And I'd argue the assertion that the article was written by a man.

You can ask him. Looks like he's not written anything for them for a few years. Too bad. That article alone is better than anything that ever came from Joss's keyboard.

There will be an extended edition bluray.

It really needs one. I think Joss had a boner for making it shorter than the first one.

“I haven’t dealt with a lot of that, because my fans have always been sweet, erudite, interesting, compassionate people. Like, I don’t know any Buffy trolls,’ said Whedon, referencing his cult TV show Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.

Agreed. Joss indeed has a vagina.

Yes, and because certain duck species are especially rapey, some are really fucked up.

I remember reading years ago about ducks that will pin down the head of a female and take turns and gang rape her.

Should have called the S.Q.U.A.T. team.

That was more than I wanted to know about anatine copulation.

I'm just going to imagine that Malcolm gets off on that stuff, and had that link in his bookmarks.

I've been hearing it explained away with, "Sure people have all the free speech they want, but they can't have it without consequences."

I knew about the ducks. I think I forgot that ducks were a type of bird.

This video talks about Whedon and his struggles with the studio to make the movie he wanted to make...

Which kind of pisses me off, because after Avengers Whedon should have been given a free hand with this one. I wonder if this is Disney meddling.

And more:

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/05/05/joss-whedon-avengers-marvel-cuts

Whedon described how others who had input on the film wanted Thor’s excursion into a cave in search of answers to take up a bigger chunk of the film. The scene didn’t test well with audiences, but the belief was that this sequence, which hints at the overarching plot concerning the Infinity Stones, was necessary.

“With the cave it really turned into, they pointed a gun at the farm’s head and said, ‘Give us the cave or we’ll take out the farm’—you know, in a civilized way,” said Whedon, who also liked a version of the cave scene. “And I respect these guys, they’re artists, but that’s when it got really, really unpleasant.”

Cutting scenes he liked can only make it better.

It's been about 20 years since they (Disney) started to turn away from sucking really hard. Seriously, look at Disney's involvement with Toy Story and what they were trying to do to that story.

I think at that point after the success of Pixar, Disney decided they needed to trust the people they hired because they hired them for their vision. After 20 years of good stuff coming from them, they're starting to believe their own press and think the name "Disney" at the bottom was what made these films great.

It's a natural cycle. I think we have a couple of decades of The Black Hole to look forward to at this point.
