Just finished Shogun. My kid informed me that season 2 has already been greenlit, in spite of the book ending right where season 1 ended, and there was no sequel to the book.

Not a half hour I told him that if there is one universal truth, it's that TV screenwriters think they are better and more talented than the authors who wrote the original story.

Kinda...sorta. It turns out that Clavell's Asia books are all about this one family business. Except Shogun. But he does put that family into 19th Japan, and sorta ties it to the Shogun continuity.
