Did a bit of research on it...

When you buy a Domino's pizza they are offering a two hour guarantee on your pizza. No additional charge.

If something happens, return the uneaten pizza and they'll remake it for free.

This just seems like a senseless waste of money unless they really believe this is going to get that many more people into the door.

Right? I mean, that seems like such a pain in the ass.

Clearly just a marketing gimmick

99.99% of the time, the pizza gets home safe. Of those .01% of the time, like, dropped it sideways getting it out of the car, I'm guessing most peeps aren't going to take the time to go back to the store, that just eat squished pizza.

Marketing gimmick.

The real question is how many college kids are intentionally destroying their pizzas to see the process in action?

Neapolitan - Good
New York - Good
Sicilian - Meh
Chicago deep-dish - Awesome
Quad city - Never had it, but it sounds terrible/
St. Louis - Good
New Haven - Never had it, sounds interesting
Detroit - Awesome
California - Can be very good
Old Forge - Never had it, a kind of sheet pizza.
Colorado mountain pie - Never had it.
Tomato - No cheese, wtf?
Ohio - Topping AFTER it's cooked? wtf?
Montanara - Deep fried? I'm listening
Greek - Not bad, they have a lot of it in Boston.
Altoona - Never had it, but American + Velveeta are not cheese.
French bread - I was poor once, too.
White pizza - Yum, depending on the details.
Roman - Dunno
Tavern cut - Sounds like glorified frozen pizza.

The only time I've seen toppings after cooking is a taco pizza.

Agreed. Not sure where that list came from, but I've lived in Ohio my whole life and not only have I never heard of "Ohio style", but I've never seen, heard of, or eaten at a place that prides itself on toppings after it's cooked.

Same. Someone made that shit up.

Reminds me of recently the Cincinnati subreddit invaded the Toledo subreddit because, they claimed, "You people think your Toledo chili is better than skyline chili."

The consensus from toledo was, "None of us have ever heard of the concept of "toledo chili," and besides even Wendy's chili is better than skyline."

The Ohio Valley-style pizza is distinguished by the fact that the cheese and toppings are added after the pie has emerged from the oven, and rely on the heat of the pizza itself to warm them up.
No idea what constitues the Ohio Valley.

So much "THIS". Skyline is fucking awful, but somehow it represents the whole state? Fuck that shit.

According to Google about half a dozen states.

Again, been all over the Ohio Valley and never heard or seen "Ohio Valley" pizza. There's no such thing.

BTW, I make my own chili and have won chili contests with it. I'm also Italian and make my own pizza. Fuck Skyline and fuck this pizza list. :D

Maybe they just mean this one place? https://www.ohiovalleypizza.com/

https://www.ohiovalleypizza.com/our-story

Which comes from this place: https://www.dicarlospizza.com/ohio-valley-pizza

Which seems to be concentrated around the OH-WV border.

How long would you let pizza sit out, and then eat it?

I'm in the 2-4 hours camp, and I would reheat it first. I used to work in Detroit with people, and after lunch they would just leave their leftovers out on their desks to take home.

But definitely covered. Uncovered getting covered with dust and flies? Like an hour, tops.

Put your food away you lazy assholes!

But seriously, I lean more towards an hour or two. Covered.

If it's uncovered it would depend on the environment.

Alert:

Some of the national chains are starting to advertise, "New crust: NY Style!"

I'm a man who cares a great deal for a legit NY pie. I know the defining characteristics.

Neither pizza hut, nor dominos, where I've tried the "NY Style" crust, are. They're just their usual dough pressed flatter. No chewiness, no distinctive feel.

So, skip it.

Tony's in Jacksonville, NC has it, as does Stubborn Brother in Toledo.

Then prolly a bunch of places in NYC.

But the chains..... no. Pathetic attempts.

I think their crust is still all made in a regional location, and shipped in, and it would cost them actual money to change the dough-making process. But they can flatten the same-ol-same-ol in the store differently, maybe use a new pan, and call it something else.

I find one of the defining characteristics is a perfectly round shape. If it's perfectly round, it wasn't tossed. DOminos and pizza hut were perfectly round. they were stamped.
