Deadpool - Skull Poop'l.

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I get where they are coming from. Look at Batman & Robin from 1997. Between the puns from Mr. Freeze and the batcard it shows they can't be trusted with any attempts at humor. So they decided not to risk it.

If they could focus on actually being funny yet subtle in the humor they added to these movies it would be fine. But they wouldn't, they'd screw it up because corporate executives have no sense of humor. Better not to even try.

The animated Batman series in the mid '90s beat the everloving fuck out of anything going on in the Batman comics at that point. I give a lot of credit to this dude for that and the cartoon DC universe in general.

Look at Batman & Robin from 1997.

Hell, no. I got tricked into that once. Never again.

Holy fuck.
In addition, "Avengers" had something "Deadpool" doesn't: A PG-13 rating. With the R rating for "Deadpool," the film is a success, but the rating is most likely keeping out superhero fans who aren't old enough to see the movie yet.

"The most reliable predictor of box-office success these days may not be a marquee name or a masked superhero," Los Angeles Times writers John Horn, Nicole Sperling and Steven Zeitchik wrote at the time of the release of "Avengers." "It's the PG-13 rating." They cited "Avengers" as a prime example of this.

The amount of stupidity contained in those two statements is astounding.

It'll be a while until we receive anymore casting news, but know that Deadpool will be joined by Cable and Domino in the sequel.

I knew about the former, not the latter. I'd also like to add that Deadpool hit three-quarters of a billion dollars in spite of being banned in China, one of the world's largest film markets. The Avengers made $86M there, so there's a good chance it'd push Deadpool over the $800M mark. Not bad for a $58M budget.

Finally watched this over the weekend with the wife. We both loved it.

Exactly how a Deadpool movie should have been made. This was, by a thousand miles, FOX's most successful attempt at making a Marvel movie. It's hilarious to think that the executives did not want to make this movie.

Fox wants Liam Neeson as Deadpool but the director doesn't.

Now.... I have seen a few people suggesting that a few huge, hulking, mature white guys would be perfect for Cable, and doesn't that mean that they are socially required to hire a black woman for the role?

I'm a huge Liam Neeson fan and he has comedy chops. This scene is one of the greatest things ever filmed:

That being said, add me to the list of people who don't want Liam to play Cable. Liam could play anything and make it interesting, but that doesn't mean he's the right fit. Ryan Reynolds is a great actor, but casting him as Green Lantern was a terrible decision.

That's really where Marvel gets it right. They're not infatuated with names. They find people who are right for the role.

IMHO, Stephen Lang would be aa good Cable.

Rumored casting according to Flickering Myth:

Cable - He coudl be ok, but I still like Stephen Lang for the role more.

Domino - Not bad.

The prick from Friday Night Lights? Bleh. Eh, Domino. Almost doesn't matter who they pick, it'll look better than Rob's renderings.

This movie was good. Not excellent, but good. Overhyped.

After some thought, I vote Dolph or Karl Urban. They both look like they could scowl you to death.

I think Karl Urban is the most underrated guy in Hollywood right now.

Agreed. He's probably one of the best in Hollywood today when just talking about talent.
